if it for an lx,you buy the intermediate section off a ls1 .this is the section between the cats and resinator.it already has h-pipe and mufflers.you need to spread the mufflers 1.5 inches to clear a 9 inch and tail shaft .the muffler hanging brackets line up close to where they are on the car.i will put a pic up tomorrow of the section.heres one loosely fit before the mufflers were spread.you can see that if you spread them the mufflers will sit higher with the tail pipes just under the diff.even if you can get an old one, it makes an excellent template Posted Image .

here is the section i bought on ebay for $40 with the resonator,it has done 50000 km and is in good condition.if you cut the along the black pen on h-pipes and weld a piece of sheet on top, turning this into a chamber,it is good for an extra 5-7kw maybe more without cats in front.cut off old tail pipes, weld 2 new straight ones on and fill in the gap between extractors and flange and you have a reasonable exhaust.i did mine to keep the neighbours happy when starting, but it fit that neat that i will either leave it as it is or make the same setup with bigger pipe.

lx304 stoked I found this as I have been given that section from a ss ute and I have been trying to decide weather to use it or not. on the ss it goes to a single pipe then to another muffler at the back, has it got a nice sound with just the twin mufflers? I was abit worried it would be too quiet for me, I would kick pipes out in front of rear wheels as we are allowed to do that in NZ.

Cheers
Nick

Hey milco
Yeah I'd hate to try and build it! The car was basically "as is" when I bought it (thanks again Ian), but apparently the system was worth an extra 60rwhp over the old system on the dyno! That's a massive gain I reckon - I would not have thought.
Check out my cardomain page for more details on the system.

Cheers

Have tried the SS mufflers (just the front two) on a carbed Holden V8 before and it sounded awful, and yes it is too quiet as well

Thanks, yeah I did away with them and had a new twin system made up coming out before rear wheels, sounds real nice.
Btw I checked with the guy doing the cert stuff and he was happy for me to do them there. :spoton:

In My Garage section, I have both my cars exhausts, all mandrel bent over the diff ceramic coated. The big block hatch has 3.5 inch pipes and the A9X is 2.5 inch, both have X pipes, lots of pics need to go through the pages.

JUST Noticed this thread has been brought back to life!

I can vouch for the SureFlo systems as I've bought 4 of them over the years on various v8's of mine. Excellent !!!
