Measured up the commo condensor today, should fit without a prob.
Going to see if the ac/heater assy will be a better fit than the toyota gear.
It's great having half a scrap yard out the back!

Will be making steam pipe manifolds, i have made up some stainless extractors but decided to go turbo.
i have a vn commo siting out the back, i'll use the stuff out of that.

Just a suggestion, but i would probably stick to using either the entire system out of one or the other and not to "mix n match".Both system are designed entirely different.(the vn runs a flooded evap/accumulator and the soarer a standard tx and uses a evaporator pressure regulator). The efficiency of the evap/condensors from model to model may result in a system that may not work 100%.

Then again i may be completely wrong and it may be fine but i would be a pain in the arse to have to modify somthing when its all back together.

Thanks for the heads up.
I only have a basic understanding of ac systems. Didn't know there was different types.
would the commo condensor work with the toyota system if i used all the toyota parts. exept the condensor.

Hey Sprog that's looking sweet man. Great work.

I hope it'll be running a proper gearbox. Those motors go nuts with manual gearboxes.

Again, great work :spoton:

That was the main part i was worried about,im not sure whether the vp commy condensor would be good enough as they arent a very efficent condensor(neither is the commy evap for that matter). The lexus/commy use the same style serpintine condensor but i think the lexus is larger. You will get a compounding heat problem if the heat is not fully removed as it goes through the condensor, meaning higher vent temps etc.

FYI a vr/vs is a far more efficent condensor.

just cheked the commodore, it's a VS.
The lexus condensor is bigger. it wont fit in the torry.

i might try it with the commo condensor and the rest of the toyota gear, the condensor will get a load more airflow through it than in the sc.

vs,its should be fine then, they use a far more efficent condensor(parrallel flow) .Just watch the nut that goes from the condensor pipe to the drier cannister the nut normally corrodes and splits, new condensor.

Anyway, been watching this conversion with interest, keep up the good work.

Thanks for your input, helped a lot.

pic of bomodore conensor in the torry, it was an interference fit, so i might not need any other mountings.

Sprog my condensor is 1997 toyota hilux and fits sweet, very easy to attach with the hilux mounts. the reciver dryer fits to the left top straight on the discharge side.

ok, engine is back in.
started putting the torry electrics back in and working out how to connect it to the 1uz.
Have rebuilt the steering column, and added commo indicator / wiper stalk.

Just a couple of questions for you all,

Does any one know of a brake booster that will work in a torana with an overall diameter of less than 9 inches? would the gemini 7" work?

Where can i get a set of Gbox x-member mounting rubbers?

Thanks for all you help and comments.

Aussie auto does those little gold anodised double diaphram boosters pretty cheap, and are easy to use with different master cylinders. We use them a lot on hot rods cos they're a lot smaller than most other boosters. Might be worth a look?

As for gearbox crossmember rubbers - do you mean the gearbox mount itself, or where the crossmember mounts to the chassis? If it's the latter there are no rubbers, it just bolts to the chassis metal to metal. If that's not what you meant, it proves I am an idiot : )

Actually dirtbag there are insulating rubber spacers in auto models from factory, I'm sure there was a thread on here somewhere with some speculation as to why which was never really answered. I think one option to replace them was to cut down some sway bar bushes?

Yeah, I don't know anything about "auto" toranas. I only ever play with REAL ones : ) hehehe :badabing:

Yeah i meant where it bolts to the chassis. its a CRS moded x member, i think it was originaly an auto one cause it has large mounting holes.
might just make up some aluminium bushes so it locates on the bolts properly.
Thanks guys
