I'm thinking on the safety side of things, the aluminum does not sound like it has much impact resistance in a crash, just something to think about.
Awesome fabrication in this build :spoton:

ok, engine is back in.
started putting the torry electrics back in and working out how to connect it to the 1uz.
Have rebuilt the steering column, and added commo indicator / wiper stalk.

Just a couple of questions for you all,

Does any one know of a brake booster that will work in a torana with an overall diameter of less than 9 inches? would the gemini 7" work?

Where can i get a set of Gbox x-member mounting rubbers?

Thanks for all you help and comments.

Well, busy weekend,

Got the chassis kit (CRS) mostly on, The pack was missing some nuts, have to go and raid the bolt store at work.
Bought the 7" booster, fits well, just have to machine up a pushrod to go into the master cyl, might do that tomorrow.
Started wiring up the ECU. soooo many wires!

That looks awesome in there. But I'll bet those wires are a bit of a headf%#k though. Good luck it'll be worth it when its all going.

If you use a Ford master cylinder P6258A the pipe outlets are on the other side giving you more clearance to the engine side
And the pushrod length is almost spot on... some small adjustments to the rod can be done with a spanner
Oh... you need to do a small mod to the master cylinder housing but you'll know exactly what I mean when you put them together

Nice work so far with the engine swap Sprog. It looks like you are following a similar path to the LJ conversion I did in 2004. Your sump is similar to mine also, made in aluminium except I did not use the original tin pan on mine. I skipped the whole injection/computer thing and converted the intake to a tunnel ram with a pair of holleys. For ignition I used a modified flat head ford Dizzy run directly off the front of the passenger exh cam with a chrysler electronic ignition unit and it runs like a swiss watch. The conversion itself from install to startup took me just a few weeks fabricating everything myself (pretty experienced at this sort of work) and then I spent the next 5 years doing a ground up resto that I never intended to happen. Here is shot of the car just after the engine install.... and a later one after it was registered. Good effort on your pipes too. I built tuned length stepped 4-1 pipes for mine complete with merge collectors and a 3 inch X pipe and finished off with a twin 2.5 inch system with 5" Supertrapp mufflers it sounds fantastic! All I need to do now is detail the engine when I'm finally satisfied with the tune.

What size tubing did you choose for the pipes? Here's a link to a poor quality vid a mate took on his mobile phone the day we first fired it up.

Yeah i know the story : )
this started off as a quick engine swap about 5 years ago.
Im up to version 3 headers. going to use 1.5 in steam pipe, it actualy has an id of 40mm. might be a wee bit big, but i'll just have to add a supercharger :)
do you have any pics of drivers side headers? getting around the steering column is the tricky bit. i have a few ideas but id like to see what you've done.

How did you get it registered with carbs? all the regs ive seen require using the standard emmission control gear, i would have thought the computer would come under that.
are the regs different up there in QLD?
