Gday all,

was just wondering if anyone had any ideas? My gas primer button, that squirts gas into the carb when it is pressed has stopped working. So consqeuently i have to crank for 30 - 45 seconds before the car starts if the car has been sitting for more than 5 or 6 hours.

As best i can see the switch still works, the wires on the switch look ok, but i am not quite sure how the system works. All the wires around the converter appear to be connnected.

Anyone got any ideas?

thanks

Steve

well i know it not gonna help with your problem but i heard that thses switches are illegal...... you should have an automatic primer swith set-up to your ignition.

allthough having said that i think i wanna get a prime button installed aswell as mine still takes a little too long to start.

Are you sure these switches are illegal? The switch was installed by the reputable company who fitted the gas system. I would rather not have to take it back there just to fix a switch, but i am gonna have to do something soon.

Thanks for the PM devilsadvocate it appears just unpluging and replugging the cables on the black solenoid have made it work again. Possibly a dirty lug.

Here are some pictures of my setup It looks like the blue one is the lockoff and the black one is the primer.

Correct!
There has been a problem with Shell, the solenoids stick due to residue on the seats.
Car won't start cold but O.K. for the rest of the day once warmed up. I maybe go to 2 or 3 a week in this weather.

Well it worked briefly and now doesn't work again. So any suggestions for unsticking the solenoid? Maybe try some BP gas?
