Guys ,I am planning to get rid of the crappy stock LX brakes(no good for 308LX!) and fit up the Hopper Stoppers Brakes but in doing so will obviously have to sell off my 14" Armolites and look for some nice 15" mags to suit the Hoppers Brakes I have no idea what wheels to opt for(LX running no flares).I have standard torana stud pattern all round and 9" Diff, best to change to HQ stud pattern?,Commodore? just want to make sure I get it all right as it wont be cheap, the Armolites(14") I have now are HG off set and allways had bad problems with the wheels rubbing on the gaurds badly even running 205X60X14 on the front. Im still saving my pennies but gathering the required info now,Ive had the S.L.R for 8 years and I cant stand the stock brakes any longer!!,308+LX+STANDARD BRAKES= scary driving!

How much do the Hopper stopper Brake Kits sel for these days?

Our Torana front upgrades are based on 290 by 28 AU3 rotors and AU3 twin piston PBR calipers, with our hubs and rotors drilled to whatever pattern
you need from DBA blanks.
Kits are $1200 with smooth rotors $1300 slotted and $1350 drilled and slotted.

This gets the whole package, rotors, calipers, pads, hubs, bearings, seals, grease caps, brackets, spacers and hoses all totally bolt on with no mods,
Caliper to the rear (swap stubs left to right) Calipers come red, black yellow or alloy all same price.
Engineers report is included.

All stud patterns available, and minimum 15 inch wheels needed, check with us re brands as some need small wheel spacer to clear.

For the rear we have a 280 by 20 vented set up based on HSV VS rear rotorsand Corvette rear calipers with handbrake incorporated.
This sells at $1300 with smooth rotors, $1400 slotted and $1450 drilled and slotted. can best seen at www.hoppers.com.au/street3.htm

The standard master and booster will certainly be fine for 4 wheel discs, only thing you need to do is remove the residual valve form the master
cylinder going to the rear brakes.
This is a little valve that lives behind the brass olive in the outlet port where the line comes out.
Remove the brass olive by screwing a small self tapper into the centre hole, use this to pull the seat out, discard the valve and refit the seat. Now you
have a 4 wheel disc master.
Next take the seals out of the proportioning valve part of the combo valve and its all good to go with 4 whels discs, (the valve is set 220 psi for
drums and discs will be fine with either no valave or at least 450psi.)

Freight usually around $40 and we can take payments by Credit Card, direct credit,
send cheque or money order in post.

If you're going to stick with 15s then go HQ pattern, width probably 7" front, same or maybe 8" rear. The standard offset should fit fine, giving you plenty of choice. Without extra clearance at the front you probably want to drop to a 50 profile tyre to reduce the rolling diameter.

Can anyone recomend any good mag wheel sellers in oz?,I'll probably change the Stud pattern to HQ on the Torana and go for 15" so I can adapt the Hopper Stoppers Brakes behind them any links to mag wheel sellers(with sizes, prices) much appreciated.Ive googled but not many places at all sell 15" wheels these days

I will have to do the same thing when I swap the 202 for a V8 oneday. I don't want to flare the LX either. Let me know what you end up doing (stud pattern, wheel size etc.). I've currently got 13" dragways on disc front / drum rear. The whole brakes, diff, wheels options are quite confusing.

Speak to Hoppers first
They do a kit for Torana that pushes the wheels out 8mm per side
Then you could use Commodore wheels
Lots more choice there and 12mm studs instead of lil 7/16 ones

i would go a set of the new alloy 5 spoke cragars in 15" my old man just put a set of 17s on his rana but it has flares really suit the era of the rana http://adaptivestrat...GER_2008_04.jpg he got the 612 p wheels, they r a 2 peice alloy and they come in i think 3 diff offsets but u can get them custom offsets as he did,the 3 peice are suppose to b extremly strong the centres are pressed in then seam welded in place.and best of all they r not made in china like 90%of wheels these days.he paid 300 for 2x 17x8s and 350 for 17x 9n1/2s so reasonable priced.

Or if you're not religious, get Ford stud pattern and get AU fitment rims. They have +35 offset compared to Torana offset of +32. With the 8mm increase per side, this will increase front track by 10mm overall. You then get the super strong 1/2" studs and the worlds most common stud pattern.

See what I mean about all the options! I would like to be able to fit old school look wheels, like the cragars, weld etc.

i think the smart option is no matter wat the wheel choose one that u can choose an offset to suit like the cragars u tell them exactly wat positive n negative offset u want n they will customise them to suit that way u cant go wrong.the old man put a set of hopper stoppers on his though he went 330mm but he put it on the car measured the offset he wanted then ordered his wheels this way u cant go wrong.
