Three pink V8s was rumour and innuendo, but it's good to see the rego details for the known one are there - would be great if it turns out the rego continued after the supposed crash tests........

 

There should be some pics in Harry's vault taken by HDT of the shop one would assume.....

I have a book called Holden,the official racing history.On page 131 there is a pic of the V8 LJ which could be SMP,hard to tell as its a black and white photo.Anyway,there long skinny tag is there and maybey if this image was scanned,maybey magnified to see those numbers and run a check on them and see what turns up. Just a thought.

This SMP LJ XU-1 was in the Summernats in 1990's,its NSW Rego Number is PMM.482


This SMP LJ GTR was for sale in Melbourne Victoria and the Purple LJ XU-1,they were together for sale in 1990's,Maybe the SMP GTR is the one that went to Brisbane from Victoria in 2002 Etc.

Someone might remember these Cars and help with information to the SMP Registar

The dragstrip car above is photographed at Eastern creek,in Sydney.

The car was at the time owned by a guy from Campbelltown,it is the car John Taverna in Victoria built and was featured as a build car ,I think,in Street Machine or one of the other

popular magazines of the day.There is a lot of ink in magazines about this car for those of you guys who remember the late 80s and early 90s.

It features in a lot of early Summernats videos doing burnouts.From memory it was a top 40 or top 80 car as well.

I think it also featured in a book on how to put a v8 in an early Torana (not sure on that one)

It started life as an LC,and was changed to look like an LJ.

I dont know who owns it now,but it was a beautiful car featuring full leather interior,and was the nicest most rattle free little Torana I have ever been in.

.It was called the Taverna/SUPERSTREET Magazine Torana or some times called the Crow Cams Torana,Built by John Taverna in Victoria,when John owned it the Vic Rego Number was EAW.343

The one in the other Pics its Vic rego number is PZD.092, So im not sure if its the same car or not as they have Different Rego numbers,the SuperStreet magazine Taverna Pink LJ was only a Torana 'S' 2-Door LJ

Thats a NSW numberplate,Al,and its definitely at Eastern Creek.

The Sydney owner at the time was a good mate of mine ,I travelled in the car often both cruising around and to the Summernats once when a car of mine was unfinished in time.

Its definitely the same car.

No sweat,Al.Do you remember there used to be a blond chick got to the Summernats back then that used to cruise around in a tidy SMP as well? I dont have any details about

the car,but it may be another to do some research on.

I came across some shots of it just now in some old Street Machine mags while looking for photos of the ex-Taverna car.

Yeah i remember seeing her SMP LJ in the Summernats Mags that used to come out,after the Summernats was over,i think there is a Pic of her standing in front of her SMP LJ,i dont know if the N.S.W Rego Number PMM.482 SMP LJ is her car from the Summernats but it might be.

i'm pretty sure Dianne from Genie exhausts in myaree in WA also had a SMP LJ for a long time, if she ever sold it.

heres the vin plate from the taverna smp car , i was told it was stolen and recovered , when i looked at it it was a street and strip tubbed and 1/2 chassis car painted in this colour , its colour code was smp when i looked at it , a guy by the name of martin bought it from morwell some years later and is restoring it back to a road car , extensive work including a complete floor pan .

Na its not the Taverna LJ,I reckon its the SMP LJ XU-1 Drag Car in Victoria,that Aldo told me about,Aldo bought this Car,so he told me.
Im guessing he doing it up etc,if it needed work,how long ago did you see it.

hi xu2308 , the car was advertised on the old gmh forum site as a roller by a guy out west of melbourne near sunshine , aldo didnt buy it but looked at it , a guy who lived in morwell vic , named dennis who bought it , he decided it was too big a job to put it back to original and sold it a year or 2 later to a martin from melbourne .. yes its probably the vic drag smp car you mentioned ,it had the back end of floor cut out from back of front seats to rear of boot and wheel tubs as i recall .i can remember it was a 6/72 .

it cant be the Taverna/SuperStreet LJ Torana,cause that was a Torana 'S' 2-Door LJ.
When Super Street did the Story on it they have Pics of it Build Up when the car was in Bare Metal,its a Torana 'S' Rolling Shell.
Was it the Drag SMP LJ XU-1 in vic that Aldo told me about,that Drag Raced in Victoria it might be that Car. ?????????? You might of seen.

Here is the PSN Plate from LEX.900, That WHITEA9XS Posted up,i think this Pink LJ XU-1 was a drag car in Victoria,
WHITEA9XS mate is doing it up he said,so he might be able to shed some light on History on it.
By its Chassis Number ALJ05412A it would have to be a 5/1972 LJ XU-1.
