Just something quick, I know it is nitpicky but lowering the top mount for the upper control arm raises the roll centre not lowers. The raising of the roll centre is good because the front roll centre is quite low and the rear is very high, this becomes even more of a problem when the car is lowered (the front becomes lower and the rear becomes higher). Therefore raising the front roll centre will help with balance.

However the even more important reason for the mod is to obtain more negative camber gain as the suspension compresses. Which is obviously ideal for cornering.

Car looks good by the way

Newer (and particularly more expensive) urethane bushes come in varying grades of compliance, they are now available softer than the original Nolathane for example

Thats good to hear! wasnt aware of that!

Well I rang pedders today and they want $470 for 4 shockers (sports ryder). bit pricey in comparison to a set of monroe gas GT ($230) so I'll just go with the cheaper ones I reckon.
AND I talked dad into going for nolathane bushes for support components but still rubber for all the moving bits n pieces.
Best of all it's my 18th in a week so most of this stuff will be presents for me!!! :D.
oh and Dad wants me to keep the 2.78 :(
I guess ill try it first then change when the cars up and runnning.

I thought you could get adjustable Konis for about $450 a set, but a mate told me he could get them cheap and maybe I'm mixing up the figures. But yeah sounds a bit exxy for Pedders

Back a few years ago when i asked Peddars for a price for Koni Adjustables for the LJ they quoted me $300 for the front pair and $310 for the rear pair.

I got them elsewhere but i reckon they are a great shock. I will be looking for some for the Coupe once i get to that stage.

pedders gear is overpriced.

Im only running Monroe gas GT shocks in the LJ, they work fine for the street.

No use flogging out lots of dollars on konis when they arent necessary.

I've been in street cars with konis and they kill anything else I've seen. I don't think saying they "aren't necessary" is fair. But for a lot of applications, I will agree that a cheaper alternative will suffice.

WOO!
Finally have done some work...
well first I just got all the stuff back from the gritblasters, sadly (for you guys) I took it straight to the powdercoaters so no pics, but on a good note, it's all ready for me to go pick up so should have pictures of my gorgeous front end up within a day.

anyway, here's the calipers after the balsters;

then sprayed them to avoid rust (just used the rocket red I had, will paint them fire red later)
Posted Image

I've also been busy hand-spraying bits and pieces and cleaning up the alternator and other metal pieces.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

Then cleaned up the block (I love paint stripper).
Posted Image
Posted Image

and painted it.

And the finishing product.

okay, so I still need to post pics of the powdercaoted gear (looks great by the way).
I just bought all the balljoints and tie-rod ends and ahev a full Nolathane front suspension enhancement kit on order ready to pick up monday!
I'm dman excited, Dad ghoes on holidays for 3weeks next week so we will build the whole front end and mount the breaks and wheels, sand the engine bay and spray it, then chuck the front end back in and it will finallyh resemble a working running car, provided it all gets done over that time (fingers crossed).
Will be more updates real soon.

Okay, I'm on lunch break after my 8th hour of sanding the engine bay and taking 45 mins just to pull the steering column out.
I've been looking at the car and I am still so far from finishing.... so anyway I'm feeling a bit discouraged, I'm in need of some encouragement I think I'll go look at my album of pretty torana pictures...
or, does anyone have a fully running lc/lj that they wanna swap for a project lc with lots of parts....?

Sexy! Well done!!! You have inspired me to get into the shed tomorrow and start pulling my front end apart!

How much did all the powdercoating/sandblasting end up costing you?

I got it done for $80 sandblasting and $150 powdercoat, I'm told that was a pretty good price.

Yep, that sounds cheap as - if I can get mine done for that price I'll be stoked.

You have done pretty much everything that I am about to do to my suspension and engine, right down to the KC rocker cover (though I am still tossing up whether to go for the black wrinkle finish or the polished alloy). You have excellent taste!

Post more pics! Can't wait to see it on the road.
