Should have some more pics to put up later this arvo, never finshed up in the shed till 3am this morning, I went out with intetions to fit all the brake lines in the engine bay but got carried away and ended up bolting the motor in aswell which is good because i don't think much will get done while the grand final is on today.

You can buy a stainless steel version of the 7" dual diaphragm booster on eBay for $265.

I bought mine from the USA in 2007 for USD $135.00. The cad plated versions are around 30% cheaper.

Thanks man.

I had a look on their website but found it a bit lacking for info.

What's the story with the heater box, or lack of?

BAILLIE, I just got off the phone from a guy that sells aircon/heater under dash units. He says that they circulate air from inside the cabin. Which means that you can ditch the old fan from the engine bay and smooth it all up :)

Kush is on the ball, I got my setup from www.speedyairspares.com.au It's an under dash heat and cool unit and makes fitting aircon in the torana a breeze.

Wow! Awesome news, thankyou so much guys, i love this forum. I am constantly learning great new things : )

Now i just need the money and the tools and the space to start putting it all into practice already. I am so jealous of people's sheds. I swear i'd be out there every other day/night tinkering away if i had one. Oh well, at least winter is over now : )

And at least i have the main ingredients: A huge passion for Torries, and ... an actual Torry. So i'm halfway there, right? lol

On the down side, i run a tiny business and have just recently gone 7 grand into debt to save it's tiny arse, so everything is seeming even more out of reach. I guess it's yet another lesson in patience hey?

Anyway, bring on more pics! I can't wait to see how this project turns out.. (there's my impatience again)

Oh, and go collingwood! haha

Oh yeh, and with the heater/aircon setup, are you sure about that?

I thought the whole idea for heaters and aircons was that they draw air from outside the cabin. If it's drawn from inside then it's not really circulating is it?

I am under the impression that (regarding windscreen demisters), they work by drawing in outside air which is dryer and therefore absorbs some of the moisture out of the air inside the cabin...

Couldn't think of even trying to build a car without the shed, But if your keen and got the passion like you do mate then nothing can stop ya. Patience is definately they key and like you i don't think i've got much but thing usually work out in the end if you keep at it.

Here a few pics anyway, Still got a few thing to finish it off but its getting there. Im off the couch for the rest of the day, Not a pies supporter but will be today.

Few pics, little bit of progress made, fuel sytem is in and nearly all plumbed up, compressor mount arrived and had been fitted but need a bit more clearance for the engine cover to sit properly, rear end nearly done just a few brake pipes to connect and the new handbrake cables have turned up so the VY handbrake set-up is in and working. Also had the VY SS Dash loom turn up so i've gotta pick through it and cut out the bits i need to make the VY ignition switch, lights, hazard lights, steering wheel controls, dash and few other bit work, What a mess, hope i've cut the right wires lol.

This is one impressive car! Some top work there. Just wondering though, what are the rules with your in-car surge tanks/fuel pumps etc? I think the set-up must be outside the car in NSW, as opposed to in the boot. Does anyone know the rules there or how I can find out myself? I will be running a 5L EFI motor in my LX 4 door, and was looking at pumbing everything up under the car, but would prefer to run it in the boot if legal.

Again, sweet ride, and a great state to enjoy it in. I was recenly in Tassie for a week long dirt biking road trip - it was ace!

Thanks matty, it's getting closer, but still seems like it's never going to be done.

smacT - Yeah tassie's a good place, when the weathers right lol, some wicked roads over here. Fuel set-up in the boot is all legal in tas and the battery is fine as long as it's vented.

Fanbloodytastic work mate ! Ive been following the build lurking in the corner with envy in my eyes..lol ....As for tassie roads, man don't ever take them for granted cause they a damn awesome! Im a Tassie boy n been in WA workin since '92 n i farkin hate these booooooorrrriiing roads here. I used to love the Burnie -Savage River runs through the gorge on the Murchison hwy. I'd love to bring my cars back to Tas just for the driving. I guess the upside is car buildups in WA dont have to worry about suspension to much although i think i do remember seeing a corner back in 1998......... or was it a bend ?
Once again gr8 job on bringing another Torry back to life !!! Posted Image

All those 90 degree fittings on your fuel system - speedflow ones are soo much nicer.

Have you trimmed the top lip off the firewall? It is hard to tell what you have done on in those photos.

lol Definately can't mistake a corner for a bend going through the gorge haha. Yeh top roads, Murchison highway is good, travel it quite a bit actully, Havent been through the gorge though for years but will definately be doing a run through there in the torana when it's done.

haha thanks matt, yeh i trimmed the firewall lip for a bit extra clearance and also the lips down the chassis rail, Spent a fair bit of time in the engine bay, wanted it fairly simple but clean and tidy. I wondered if anyone would comment about the 90 degree fittings lol, They will be replaced with the speedflow ones after i get a few other things sorted out, but for time being they do the job, although look pretty shitty while they're doing it lol.

Thats a damn nice job all over. Very envious!! I'm in the final stages of my rebuild (injected 355 into an LX 4-door) and am about to find out how many headaches Mr. Engineer is going to cause me.

How are you going to go with the 17x10" wheels?? I'm running 17x8" and 17x10"s and one of the first comments the engineer made to me was "you're not running any silly sized wheels and tyres, are ya??". Apparently in Vic you're allowed a 1" increase in rim diameter and a 1" increase in rim width, which means I can't have anything bigger than 15x7" for rego. Grrrrr..... Has anyone else run bigger wheels than this in Vic?? Help please!

I'm suprised at how similar the methodology is!
I'm doing the same conversion, but using a VR HSV GTS stroker engine.

The first section of sheeting across the reinforcing member, I used heavier gauge steel which is welded to the bottom of the crossmember, then extends up through the floor and over the rear of the box.
Only other difference....mines going in an HQ

Nice work bruce, yeh very similar work with the tunnels, that stroker should bring the old 'Q' back to life.

hotlx8 - Can't remember how it works exactly with the wheels sizes, will have to look back through the NCOP and my application, I think the rim size works off the original tyre size of the car with a maximum increase of 30% on the width, Something along them lines anyway. But yeh the 17x10 rims are legal. Had to be with the legal wheel track though which is the original track and a maximum increase of 25mm, Not real happy with that though as the wheels could sit out a bit more, but s#!t happens, it's legal as it is.
