Just wondering mate,
Is there any down sides to removing the rear drip channel along the back of the fire wall?
Also was it hard to weld back up and clean up?
Cheers

Thanks mop, maybe down the track when when the missus forgets how much i've spent on it already haha

nah mate wasn't hard, but was only done because there was there was a fair bit of rust between the layers that joined together to make the seam, so i cut it off cleaned it all up and rewelded the seam. Only down side i can see really is a bit more water in the engine bay if it rains.

Heres a few more pics of what i've been working on lately. I Started of with a complete VY SS Harness to make the dash and all its accessorys work and have slowly cut out all the wiring which I hope in not necessary lol, Just waiting on the main power window switch and hazard light switch and it should be nearly ready to go. Although it would be really handy if I could find a diagram of the pinouts for a VZ SS dash cluster, Got an airbag fault at the moment which i can't get past, but everthing else works.

Have also got all the power windows in the doors and working thanks to the Torviki, new chrome aircon compressor has also turned up so i've bolted it all together and measured the size of the belt I need to run it and now have to find one.

Even the aircon/fan switch has a ciruit board in it, what have I got myself into

Definately insane matt, someone should have smacked me round the head and told me to wake up to myself lol, but they just keep putting ideas in my head. I've just finished wiring in the alarm with 2 point immobiliser and remote central locking, so its getting more and more confusing each day.

Should have gone and did an auto electrical course, but instead im just hoping I plug it all in and everything works!

they do say there is a fine line between genius and insanity good to see you admit you have crossed it Les :P

I'm just hoping someone else gets done with a project down here between the 6000 and our rehatched don't want to be the very next one to roll out after you set the bar too bloody high

haha thanks kel, yep i've definately crossed the line, this car is driving me insane at the moment BUT guess what, IT GOES WHOOOHOO.

Just got the big girl fired up again finally, with dash and eveything in place and nearly fell over when i looked at the tacho and it was sitting on 8oorpm :D I had lost all hope of getting them running as all the gauges run of an ALDL signal which apparently needs to run though a BCM and PIM blah blah blah, anyway this is another drama but, just have to test out the speedo and if that works i'll be a very happy camper as that'd be enough to get it registered and then may be able to sort out the other gauges and stuff later on.

About time something has gone to plan so i've now locked up the shed for the day grabbed a beer and about to hook up the boat and take the kids fishing

If you get stuck with the wiring then give Sideshow Performance Wiring a call.

Send us across some fresh Snapper and a couple of large lobsters please, should get here just in time for Xmas lol ;) Air Xpress of course hahahaaa.

Great job on the car, it's been a long time coming but looks to be worth every minute of the time invested. ;)

Cheers
Al.

Mate, this is bloody beautiful. Have read the whole post 4 times through in a row. Want to do the same. Can't wait to see it finished! Not far now....

If it is not to bold a question - how much $$$ have u put into it so far? Good thing you have done so much yourself. I will need to get alot done for me as I am not that handy so will probably double the cost of yours. Just tryin to get some numbers in so I can make a budget (not really the right word for a build like this but need to tell that to the missus)

Pretty Happy with how it all came up, but the one problem i had was that i couldn't be there when they were masking up the black and putting the stencils on which made it hard. The sill panel below the doors was supposed to be black aswell, so i've got to take it back to get that fixed but apart from that it's came up pretty good. Should have looked like this pic.
