I guess the term "show car" means different things to different people. For mine, my favourite Torana/Holden/Streetmachine of all time (show car, race car, call it what you will) is LITRE8.

rob bellisitos? I think thats his name.

Nice car. Was at toranafest one year, but never returned as he was unhappy with the judging.

Old man is friends/went to tech with his uncle.

Correction, i know the car won Best HB/TA/LC/LJ 2 door - Show at Toranafest in 2005 so i can't understand why
you would say he was unhappy with the judging as it won its class????

I believe its his cousin your old man knows not his uncle.

Wow, holy thread dig.

I know john is an uncle or cousin, uncle seemed more likely as he appears to be a bit older than rob.

I was told he wasnt happy, why? I dont know.

On another note, the car was back at johns to be retuned mid last year, still looks great.

Would have to be the 1972 GMH Stylng V8 LJ XU-1 that Leo put together in early 1972, was ment to do the Show Circuit in 1972.
The Black A9X Hatch Show Car that was in Street Maxhine Magazine twice was a Awesome Looking Machine

Show cars of today are a bit different to show cars of the earlier years. Just thinking back and all the cars like litre8 where good enough to get into street machine due to there quality and streetability at the time but where still very practical. Show cars today are purely about art and not about being legal to drive. I prefer the practical usable types of earlier so in my eyes litre8 has it. It's the most memorable for me and no other has stuck in my mind so it must be good enough to be a show car if not today but for it's day.

I agree, "Litre 8" set the benchmark for the Torana in the show scene.

Call me biased, but I still have a soft spot for my old LX SS Hatch which was initially built by a guy here in Adelaide called Paul Edwards. Paul being a Manufactoring Jewler had a real eye for detail. This car was lazer straight and was rebuilt using many NOS parts at the time which also inclded many new panels. This car was better than "brand new" with everything being replaced at the time, the whole car was rewired and all the looms and relays sat in the glovebox in a beutifully designed stainless glovebox infill. Here also sat the MSD Coil, the MSD 7AL2 was cleverly placed on the L/H passengers kick panel area.

Whilst Paul owned the car it sported a alloy headed 350 and weld wheels. He sold the car minus engine and trans to me in 1990 for the pricely sum of $5700.
My father initially suggested I purchase an injected 5 litre from Holden's to power the car but spending time with local "drag racer's" influenced my thoughts and I ultimatly placed a 427 Big Block Chev in the car.

Anyway's here are some pics of the car, firstly as it featured in Street Machine and afterwards when the car was under my ownership..

There was a black A9X hatch that had ROH Chicanes on it, Weber intake and Group C modifications. That was a beautiful car.

The GMH Styling V8 XU-1 that Leo the Styling Guru did for the 1972 Show Car Scene, never happened due to The Supercar Scare of 1972, what a Beast this LJ XU-1 was.

Remember it was the Styling V8 LJ XU-1 THAT Leo did, and the other LJ's were the Engineering V8 Cars, so i have been told by Ex GMH people involved back in the day, i think there more to the Styling V8 Car than i have been told so far.

Yeah, this got my vote too.
I think it looked better in the first guise though. [ with all the tennis balls]

It's a bit hard defining 'the best' if you haven't actually viewed the car.

I remember a pearl white camaro with candy stripes that SM raved about years back. I finally saw it on the lot in Bris & wondered what the hoo-har was all about. It was parked with HQ4U.
