Leaking Trimatic

Hi, I have a small fluid leak in my trimatic. The fluid is only on the drivers side and was initially only dripping out where the crossmember bolts to the chassis, it has now spread a bit more and is on the drivers side of the oil pan. I have checked the cooler hoses and speedo cable etc and the sump is all nipped up tight. Because it is such a small amount I was wondering whether it was something to do with a breather. Do trimatics have a breather and is it located up on the drivers side? Is there supposed to be a breather or something coming out of the modulator valve because there seems to be a hole there that should have something on it?

Any help would be great.

i have a similar problem as well, looks like its coming from rear drivers side of the trans so i replace the vaccum mod gasket, trans pan gasket(about 6 times, the last time i ran a bead of hi temp oil resistant silicone around the pan), checked all the cooler lines, wiring entry, and selector shaft
Got me #@$^%& so i just let it leak
any help would be great though

modulator runs the vaccum hose?
speedo drive leaking ?
output shaft seal leaking?

Best thing i suggest is wash it and then see where it comes from.

O.k, well my modulator valve doesn't have any hose connected to it, so this could mean something. Where is this hose supposed to connect up to...don't remember there being much room to put a hose clamp or anything to hold it there, might have fallen off sometime.

There is no clamp. just a small rubber hose he connects to a steel tube that runs up to the carby. If your trimatic is shift kitted then you don't need to have it connected but it will soften the shifts (i don't know by how much, i'm running with out it but mine has been converted to a full manual valvebody)

O.k so that rules that one out, cos I'm also running a manual valvebody. Next. Anybody else have an ideas? I suppose it could be running out around the mod, where it screws in..

can u get it up on a hoist and let it run it for a bit? clean it up first, easiest way to find an oil leak mate.

I've had it up on a hoist to have a poke around and tighten all the hose's etc. but that might be a good idea, take it for a drive then pop around to the mechs and get him to put it up so I can have a look. Damn frustrating at this point in time. Don't want to put it under too much work in case it busts a seal or something.

How about the o ring on the bottom of the dipstick tube?

An overtightened sump gasket on a trimatic can leak as much as an undertightened one.
