NSW never has enough people come out to anything, let alone a drag day, so that would fall on its arse. Cause some peeps on the central coast don't want to race with the best.

haha, give me 6 months keith.

In reality, I need to get some cash together to pay back some money, then I can bring the torana out for some off street activity.

Until then its kind of collateral for a loan, hence, if i smash it or blow it up on the track, then there is no insurance for it.

But if it happens on the street, I get paid out 15k and I get my shell back.

But as I said, as soon as I get this money paid off (need to buy and sell a few more cars) then I can run it till my heart is content!

Might even have the blower on by then!

Went out to Calder today and watched a little street drag action. The new set up looked pretty good and now all cars after finishing thier race must drive back along the old back straight instead of driving back up the old goat track. Saw where the clubs would be on the infield section and looks OK but there is no shelter. Racing starts 12pm and runs to around 8pm on Sundays and around 10pm on Saturdays. Should be able to get enough runs in over that time frame. Only dissapointing thing of today personaly was there was not one 202 racing.

Hmmm i think calder on a Saturday would be the best option at this point, 8hrs is a good chunk of time, even if there is other cars, and im sure we will be able to get +15 cars.
Quite dissapointed that heathcote can't be hired out, its always great day there. $55 sounds reasonable too.

Joanne just emailed back - there is no dates for '09 T+Ts yet....

We should defintiely look at other options, but as we did at the street meet here once before it's limited to 20 cars, and you just get your own lane to line up in.. nothing more than that.. so possibly only 3 runs in the night!

Defintiely SUX about heathcote... but we need to look at something else as an option...

As others have said.. hiring WSID is good.. but expensive... i think orange LJ said it above, and he was right.. about $200 per car.. max i *THINK* it was 50 cars... heaps of racing, but 11.0 sec cut off!!

Cheers :(

Rick had a good idea yesterday...

If we plan to go up on a T&T at heathcote... Then just spread rumours around that racing that weekend had been cancelled. Less people will head up and we will basically have the track to ourselves!! HAHAHAHA!!

Any disused airstrips around that we can hire? Do our own manual timing like the clubs used to back in good old days.

Plenty of room for a burnout pad and a motorkhana if thats what people want. I hate motorkhanas, the red mist used to cloud my navigation abilities lol.

Cheers

Yea stedz im still hoping there is a glimmer of hope that Heathcote will go, 'aww schucks we love toranas, why dont we run a drag day for you guys :D'....

I also think Matt's mate Rick has a good idea, hehehe love it..

Ohh Herne, i have a Gtech that we can use :P....skeptics aside, those things get the 1/4 mile times pretty spot on

I think the 8 hour Calder day still sounds like the plan B to go for im my opinion..

I reckon a full day out at Calder Park would be ace too. Remember they've only just re-opened, so give them a few months to get into routine mode, and then see what sort of numbers they are getting. Once things settle down, there's every chance the congestion will clear, and there should be good hope of everyone getting plenty of runs in. I know blokes who raced on the opening day, and still managed an easy 8 passes or so.

I love the concept of being able to race both during the day (great to get photos and video footage), and then keep going into the night, using the colder air to run the P.B's.

Its to the North West. Sort of on the way to Bendigo. About 25minutes from the CDB i would guess.

Hume Hwy, turn right onto Western ring road, turn right onto Calder freeway and your there. Pretty straight forward if coming from N.S.W? Freeway right to the gate.

So, coming from Canberra is Calder closer or further in distance than Heathcote? I have no idea about things down that way :)

Calder is further but probably easier to get to?
If you look at this map, Calder park is circled and Heathcote is north.

Calder is to melbourne CBD what WSID is to Sydney CBD.

Hethcote is in the boondocks on the north of Melbourne Near Bendigo! That makes it "closer" to sydney by a small margin.

I'm happy to race at calder if we can be guaranteed a good ammount of passes! Have to see how it pans out.

Cheers

Errrr, Not sure....

Calder Park? No luck with heathcote, chatted to a few other clubs, and they got the same response.... Although now that calder is back open... Heathcote "should" be quieter... So we could use one of their test and tune days?
