THERE WERE CARS THERE!?

No Seriously!

We did 1.75 laps of the grounds and it was fantastic!
The quality and quantity of the cars on display was simply amazing, I think the HVTC have busted their guts and come up with the perfect arangement for a car show which invites top notch show cars to stand along side daily driven cars of which both owners take exactly as much pride.

ido9s: dont worry mate, I'm sure eveyone understands where your coming from, and for people who havent experienced a toranafest for themselves and those who are used to the traditional car shows where the biggest budgets win, Toranafest is something of an eye opener! I'm sure no one took offence mate!

The day was fantastic, and i apologise for my performance on the day... working 17 hours the day before just hammered me and i was really under the weather with less than 5 hours sleep under my belt! ( must be getting old hey!)

The meet and cruise up was amazing, Seeing the STC and associated group leave maccas was awesome and the drive up was as "interesting" as always with simone behind the wheel and BCR45Y only a "little squirt" away!

I really enjoyed catching up with those ive spoken with before, and equally those i got to finally put a face to the nicknames from here! We really do have the best forum with the best membership ever! Imagine so many different people with different likes and different cars enjoying the day at such an awesome event. We just enjoyed ourselves catching up with friends!

Congratulations to all those who wont trophies they are all well deserved!

I just cant get over how awesome the show was, catching up with everyone and the cruise to and from the show that was just great!

Apologies to those who i didnt get to catch up with ( Johngong! i did recognise you mate, Just didnt get back around to say Gday!) and hopefully catch up at TF09!

Cheers
Tiny

OrangeLJ, you brought up a point I couldn't agree with more, kids touching cars. I found it wasn't just limited to kids but just a few things I saw with my car. I had a sign on the car saying please don't touch, so about 3 people picked up the sign and moved it! WTF was that all about? A boy started touching the nose cone with greasy hands and an ice cream in the other. My nose cone has the satin black paint which doesn't like greasy hands too much. I said to the kid, while his parents looked on, please don't touch the car. The kid just looked at me while the parents gave me a filthy look. Now all I said was please don't touch but at this point one of my mates as a stir says it's just a kid and I couldn't help but have something to say at this point and replied with "I couldn't give a f*ck to be honest, the kid has parents who just stand there how about teaching your kids some respect for other peoples property". That simply got another dopey look as the parents just kept walking. Whats with people? I have a sister in law who I personnally can't stand and she has these little grots that last year decided to come up and punch the front of the car at the AMCM. I ripped into them too and looked over to see her standing there. It all comes back to the parents. When I take my little bloke to a car show I make sure he doesn't even look like touching a car and he knows not to. Teach them young I say, shit at the all Holden day a few years ago some moron holding an A9X bonnet scoop let it bash along the side of the car no less than 5 times! Sorry about the rant but it really shits me to tears that people can come along to a car show and think it's ok to touch someone elses pride and joy and treat it with little to no respect.

Hey Herne,

Sorry I didnt catch you on the sunday, I came looking, but found your car, but not you!

Jeremy's brake caliper looked good! now he just needs the rest of the car!

I was contemplating taking it and sticking it in my boot, with a ransom note for him! but figured he might get a bit cranky! haha.

Car looked great though mate! that metalflake is bloody bright! and I can see jeremy's polishing skills are bloody great!

Was definitely a fantastic day. I ended up very red, due to lack of sun screen, though it was worth it! This was my 2nd Toranafest, and my first entry, and it was an honor to be apart of such a fantastic event!

The Torailer was fantastic to tow, and made it up and back with no problems. I was very impressed with how my car performed on the way up as well, as I managed 480kms with a standard tank plus towing, so I was very impressed with that.

I would just like to make a special mention to Mick Mccardle who managed to take the time out from organising this fantastic event, to also design the Torailer stickers which are on the front and back of the Torailer. Mick volunteered to design these decals for me even though Toranafest 2008 was shaping up to be the biggest ever! It was a pleasure to meet you at the event Mick (even though it was brief) and I hope you like the final product!

Here are some pics we took:

Hi Chris, thanks mate, all comments appreciated :)

I was most likely up at Southern Branches sun shade/tent thing, yes they actually thought ahead and took some shade so I parked myself in there for a lot of the day :)

Jeremy does a Great job eh! I have seen the rest of his car and it mostly looks like that caliper be it all in bits right now though.

With regard to kids and no respect for property, I was horrified to see the kids scooting past a number of cars (mine included) on scooters at speed and mostly out of control. If one had come off lord knows what damage might have been done to a car not to mention the kiddie!

I would have taken more photo's but I filled my memory card up and when I put the newly purchased one in I found it to be too large for my camera and of no use :( My camera simply couldn't handle it and rejected it outright.

Graham if you read this mate thanks for a great 3 days/nights. The security guard and I had a good chat this morning as he was finishing up - he was stoked and so were we! Excellent......

Cheers
Herne

I hear u guys about touching stuff, but funny thing is with kids is like when i walk my dog, kids come up and ask if the dog bites to which i reply YES (all dogs with teeth bite) then they proceed to pat the dog without asking, its like the parents have taught them to ask if the dog bites and just left it at that. Makes u laugh.

I know that it has already been said, but congratulation's to the organisers for another great Toranafest!

Thank you for putting so much effort into a great day.

In saying that I was quite suprised that myself and a number of other entrants were lead to park such a distance away especially taking into consideration how much open space was left in the main area of the park.

As for kids, I can understand and appreciate that we were in the middle of a park that is open space for everyone and not exclusively us, and that families were out with there kids enjoying the day and whilst fingerprints would drive me crazy, I had to deal with kids running around throwing rocks and dirt at each other, whilst I know my car needs body work, I don't want it to get any worse.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the day and it was great to take the car out and stretch it's legs, great to catch up with some familar faces, and soak in the sun.

these weren't taken at Toranafest, this was Saturday however I thought people might like the pics. One stock tuxedo black A9X and one slightly modified (wheels and tank only) tuxedo black A9X. I thought the wheels looked fantastic myself, I was worried black wheels on a black car might not look right but it looks great.

RED: Your right mate, It comes down to respect!
Unfortunately alot of people dont understand the lengths that we go to to keep out cars in the condition they are in and to those people "what's the problem... it's just a car!" (UGH....)

I think you and Orange did the right thing, but i'm doubtful that they will every learn what it's like to respect something as much as we do! ( I was discussing this with Howard and others on the day! It's amazing!)

I wonder how many touched my car as it was parked out on the road! (Shame it's not Torana-And-A-Monaro-Fest :tease: )

Cheers! :spoton:

Well haven't long arrived home but what can I say, bring on 09. Probably had the best car related weekend of my life.
Meeting a lot of fellow forum members from qld, canberra and sydney and also catching up with a lot of people from last year.
The motel atmosphere was a blast and meeting guys like Litre8, Herne, Keith and Hux made it all the more worthwhile. Oh theres also Jeremy and I think we'll leave it at that, but I have never laughed so hard at one person before and we won't repeat the conversasions.
Car of the day had to go to xuidave and his strike me pink XU1, and it was good to catch up again, Dave you're a pissa.
The cruise that Mick organized was excellent, especially for us people who are a bit worried about venturing out to far for fear of being lost. Thanks.
The Sunday was the BEST static car show that I have ever attended and its a credit to everyone who organized the day, you should be very proud.
It's excellent to see all the different varients of one model of car displayed in such a way that it just leaves you in ore.
Definately making the trip north again next year, can't wait.
The trip home was interesting as just out of Goulbourn we recieved the combination of a dust storm and terrential rain all in one, I kid you not, it was raining mud. The lc has now changed from purple to a distinct brown, but thats life.
Once again well done to the HVTC, great show and meeting some great people makes the long trip worthwhile.

Cheers Chris.

Strangest sight of the day had to be the couple out walking a harnessed ferret. I suppose exercising the ferret is one way to spend a Sunday... ;)

Struth, what an awesome day. First Tranafest for me & what a great 5 days I had! To all who were part of the organisation WELL DONE!!! Will definately be going back next year! Will PM those who personaly need a mention. 1600 km round trip & what a trip it was (Albury/Wodonga - Newcastle & back), especially the drive back. Car didn't miss a beat - ran beautifully. Thanks to the VTC boys for joining me for the trip home. One thing I should mention is on the way home we when got just south of Gundagai all the way to Albury (125kms) there was major roadworks happening (new upgrade to the Hume Hwy), encountered a big dust storm due to the road works with rain - been many years since I have experienced a similiar experience. SLR has never been this dirty since I've owned her, (I'll be a busy boy tomorrow)
