Well said. Loved the display with the car, especially the washing powder from 1968 that had the "Win a Torana" Competition on the box
Bev Brock thought it was interesting

Washed the mud off my car today and thought I would take a few pics of my car and the trophies.
AND yes I am proud of them.

Barry (Pops-ss) most impressed with your photos and a great report. Well done. Loved the line up of Toranas waiting at the traffic light photo. Looks like all had a great time.
Thanks all for the nice comments and as I said before the trophy wins was unexpected and it did put the cream on top of a great weekend.
And thanks again to Bruce (TBM) and John (frash da bucket) for their warm hospitality at Katoomba

Daves been working on improving that butt crack for a few years now, I think he should get a trophy for it next year, he gets lots of comments on it but no-one has ever seen the sun shine out of it like he proclaims

I'm glad I came to the maccas in the morning to say g'day because for some reason I didn't manage to spot a single familier face while I was up there (which is a testiment to how big the event was). I saw REDA9X, but he was swamped with visitors so I didn't interupt. I was listening out for the PA announcement for the forum members but i must have missed it.

Can you imagine Toranafest at a Race track or something (like powercruise but ONLY for toranas!)? Weekend full of events, 250+ entrants... Cruising the track, or on Display, Go to Whoa, Burnouts etc etc... I love hearing a Torana at full throttle! I think that would be heaven! We would probably pull a crowd big enough to have Torana listed as a religion! LOL

What would be awesome to have though, is a cruise track or something! Nothing beats seeing and hearing the cars rumble around... I know it would mean huge insurance costs... But I'm sure it would attract even more cars! Its a long way to travel for some just to have their cars on a static display.

An informal cruise was held with a large number of Toranas running from Heatherbrae to Merewether Beach on the Saturday. See forum posts.
In earlier Toranafests a cruise along the foreshore and around the King Edward Park Hillclimb Circuit was held but as the numbers of entrants grew the traffic kaos put an end to that part of the event. I used to lead the run but with Traffic lights and other motorists who ignored our lines the cars were broken up into small groups and many became lost on the route!
Rest asssured though that we are always trying to provide more activities and interest into Toranafest within the limitations of the venue. On the day we did not have any spare time left in the programme at all and many of club members me included did not even get to see all the cars as we were busy making the event happen.
We appreciate the posts of encouragment and the photos so we can see what we actually missed out on. I missed the hairy ferret

I think that most people agree that this is a great spot for a static car show.
What about us re enacting the Wrestling scene from Borat would that help? How about it Pete?

The Harry Firth dinner on the Friday was fascinating and I had a blast, I hope Harry enjoyed it as much as everyone else seemed to.
It was great to spend a full weekend up at Newy for the festivities and cruising through the CBD with all the other Torries on Saturday was very cool too.
I think next year we'll have to book a room out at Raymond Terrace with the rest of the gmh-t crew, last I heard the idea of the security gaurd hadn't got off the ground and I didn't want to leave the car unattended while we were at the dinner, but I'll know for next time.
Bring on next year!!

On the Toranafest side of things he totally enjoyed himself again & has said to me & a few others that this event is most certainly the best event he has attended in a long time, the hospatality & thoughtfulness to his age that have been shown to him is second to none (so HVTC cheers on your behalf your efforts go unmatched). He is keen to return next year he says but we will see how he is next year.
As Mick mentioned earlier alot of the special guests that attended the Dinner & Toranafest were very inpressed with our hospitality & would like to attend next year, that says alot for the HVTC we are making an impression.
I personally didn't get alot of time to look at all the cars but Bazza what a display champ, you certainly have some rare memorabilia there,& your car is a true credit to you Well Done.
The one car that was a standout for me was the White SLR 5000 A9X with the wheels off it on the drivers side & he was from Tassie, that car was fantastic & he claims to have done it all in 4 months with the help of 2 others over 3000 man hrs in it,take my hat off to him & talk about passionate & claims that it cost him over $6000.00 to get it here & back Just for TORANAFEST......
Well thats it ...

From the comments I got I believe most liked it.
And on the furry ferret on a leash and not to also mention the wallys with their furry barking husky type dogs

Car show yes, dog or animal show no, it is as simple as that.
We have a fella here in town that likes to bring out his Superb Parrot perched on his shoulder at our rally and other events in the town.
A bit of attention seeking by these types I believe.
Broads, got a 3 shots of your car from behind on the Saturday cruise.
Great looking LC that drew some admiring glances from onlookers

I didn't get any at all due to the fact I left my camera behind. Usual last minute rush waiting for a passenger who never turned up etc

Apparently maps were handed to others out whilst I waited and stalled things for you guys.
Cant wait to see the photo's that Broads lady friend took, unless I am mistaken she took a great many of my car. I hope it gets a mention in the magazine

Damn, that small street we went up with cars parked either side was kinda narrow, I am not used to driving in those conditions, scared the bejesus out of me lol It didn't help that all those traffic lights didn't do my cooling system any favours, I noticed Broads and my car were getting a bit warm we both had our bonnets up whenever we stopped.
I was just telling my wife about that fool of a Taxi driver near Hornsby that blocked one lane and nearly caused a truck to run into our line of Torana's.
Cheers

Yep those kids run their sticky hands along the length of my car but the marks will wash off, much better than some low life's that runs two bob bit down the rear quater, what impressed me was the lack of these hoons at the show, I didn't hear anyone speak badly of any cars no matter what condition they were in, nor did I hear any "datz totally sick maaate" I am glad torana shows don't seam to attract this sort of crowd.
And I recon the ferrett needs a lead surprise because it tried to make out with one of my bridgestones.
It was great to put faces to some of the forum names and have a chat about our torries, I should have got off my ass and hunted down some more of the members but after a long week I just needed a bit of R&R for the drive home.
My car has heaps of mods which most people dont notice as most of them kind of look factory, and that's what I set out to do, but just about everyone asked me how I managed to get those VYSS seats to fit in, they only took two hours to fit the easiest mod in the car but only five people noticed or asked about the DENSO Air Conditioning that I intergrated into the factory airbox that tool me three weeks, or the 513hp 383 chev, but the judges must have noticed them and awarded our car with a trophy. My son asked me "do you recon we might be in the running for a trophy dad" and I said No mate the standard here is bloddy high today, and just as I finished my sentance Mick called out our car number and spun me out, so if I looked like a stuned mullet Mick this is why, It was stand there and talk to you or go and get the trophy from the young chicky babe, sorry mick but she was cute.
Again thanks for the fantastic day
Hope to see you all next year.
