Been a long time fan of the great race and for years had to sit in hot sheds with sprinklers on the roof to try and cool things down a bit.
The mates that get together for all those years after last years race, made a pact that this year will be the year we go.
A lot of organisation later we have made it happen. The logistics of getting 20 blokes from Karratha in North West WA to Bathurst in NSW has been trying (and costly) to say the least, but we did it.
Just wondering if any one is going as it would be great to put a face to some of the names -- i only know 1 --FATSLR who dropped in for a beer on his way through, a month or so ago

i go every year with the wife and kids,this year my boy will be big enough to go up for a helicopter ride

We'll be there, haven't been to Mt Panorama (on race weekend) before so it's about time.
But it's the phone call that I received earlier this week that's really blown me away - have been chosen to do a parade lap (as one of sixty Holdens) before the start of the race! After I regained the ability to speak, it didn't take me long to accept the offer

Congrats on the phone call for the parade lap. I saw the Torana's go round the track a few years back and was a huge thrill just to watch ...

Never been before either, i think it is near turn 1 somewhere. I recieved an email asking about the parade lap a few weeks ago.

Not going to the track at all on Saturday, I was asked to be at the track on Sunday morn - luckily we were able to score some last minute accomodation in Orange.Where are the parade cars staying on saturday night

We fly out today from the red dust and flies
Would still like to catch up if any one is interested
Am doing the whole four days there but intend on sight seeing for the Thurs -- Fri and some of Sat
