To install a bonnet scoop are there any tricks tips to installing it ??

Am I correct in sayin:
1. Sit it on the bonnet.
2. As far back as possable, should be on the lip of the bonnet.
3. Measure to make sure it square.
4. Tape it down
5. Re-measure to make sure it's still square.
6. Drill the holes ?? what dia ??
7. And bolt it down ?? what bolts and where can I buy them ??

Position is right, sounds good to me. 1/4" UNC hex key bolts are a nice size, or 5/16" if you want something a little bigger that stands out. Make sure you get some nice flat washers to go with them.

Original fasteners are the same as the grill and dash which require a nut on the underside. (3/16 unf I think?)

There are two holes that will line up with the bonnet brace/rib. Here you use 2 self tappers but be carefull of the length as you do not want the tips of the screws pushing out the bonnet brace/rib underneath.

There are self tappers with the same head style/look used in mounting of the dash too, just not sure where.

Rarespares have just started selling a kit of bolts fasteners .
I used 5/16 " stainless capscrew to match my flares I like the look but there is not much room to the edge of scoop which made fitting scoop nailbiting but all good now

ORIGINALS are grill screws as Baron said and they use the nuts that hold the glove box lid in, however the front two corner ones are the same as the self tappers that hold your lower dash up underneath. If you have a look you will see those front two corner ones end up being under a rib, hense the need for self tappers, it looks ugly drilling holes in those ribs to fit nuts.

Its not the way everyone fits a scoop, I realise that.

I also use 'nutserts' they save a whole lot of time when fitting the wheel flares, ask your panel beater about them, as you need a tool to insert them.

Cheers

Mine is mounted like hernes with the rubber strip. I like the boldness the strip ads. It kinda beefs up the look of the scoop IMO

GMH were too lousy to pay for it and that's why they didn't add it on lol. Of course their argument would be it saved weight ;)
