Anyone remember the green hatch THUNDER? Does anyone know uch about the car at all, was it originally an SS? A mate of a mate just bought the car and I went and had a look at it for him, it's gone downhill a fair bit and has no tags and either the chassis number is buried under layers of paint and bog or it's gone. I took a few pics but I have to find my adapter to load them.

That waas a porsche ascot green and black one wasn't it? I have the magazine at home somewhere that it was in. I think it had wide colour coded V5 simmons and was running a chev if I remember rightly. I loved that car. I was gonna paint mine the same colour ages ago. Shame that it's gone downhill :(

Ditto - I remember it from the magazine. Was a stunner of a car.

Yes that was a top unit back around the mid 90's when it was featured in a Torana mag.

Someone here must know the guy who built it up, it says it was built by "THOR" on the make up tags. I have a feeling it may have been an SS originally, but there is no identification on the car at all. I remember it being at the All Holden Day years ago, and I remember the magazines too, I might have to have a look through them

Pretty sure one of the old mags ive got had pics of it before the buildup, certain it was a papaya hatch, was a non-torana mag, just a holden mag

Not sure on the original builder of the car, but the bloke who "claimed" the build is Steven Courtney. Last known contact was an ultra tune franchise at Winston Hills or thereabouts.
Red, don't place too much faith in what you hear about the car from Steve, he is prone to exagerations...

Back in the olden days when the 'net first became available to those lucky enough to have a 14.4kps modem the "Thunder" website was one of the few that popped up on Alta Vista (long before Google was a search engine) when a search was done on "Torana". Thats about all I remember though...... Naturally the website was saved as a favourite on Navigator (or was Mosiac back then?).

I wonder if it is cached anywhere now?

Wow that takes me back, have you tried archive.org? (http://www.archive.org/index.php) The search doesn't appear to be working at present, do you remember the domain name?

Cant remember the domain name but I think it was a geosites (or similar) domain. For some silly reason "Toranasaurus" is also ringing a bell, maybe that is the website Im thinking about? It is all too long ago.......

Yep i remember that car,it was what inspired my cousin to paint his vh charger ascot green back in the 90's.

As for the car from what I know of it was that since the 90's it has changed hands several times with most of the owners not looking after that well,I was told it's had atleast 2-3 engines put into it,next time I see my cousin in law I'll try to remember to ask him what history of the car that he remembers of it,he knew one of the owners.

I remember that car before the wheels were painted green and the tunnel ram was fitted. A guy by the name of Dave Wilson from the Central Coast owned it. As a boy, i used to sit on the side of the road and wait for him to come past each afternoon on his way home from work. That car sat better on the 345's than any other hatchback ive ever seen. Id love to get hold of it to restore back to its former glory now that i have some money. Some current photos would be awesome. Can anyone help?
