I'm off for a two week holiday as of the end of the week. I am picking my nine inch up during this time which will be good. We ended up having a new set of axels turned up. Which blew the budget for that out. I am gonna try and switch the brakes to a set of vn commo's I have in the shed. See how easy that works given it has el Ford units on it atm.
I'm pumped to see if my brakes hit my shocks and if my disks need to be forward mounting. Finally ill then be able to measure up for my rear wheels. It will then be a tough decision between the intro's or the vn500 Magnums. I'm real keen to get these ordered and over here!
I will also pick up my re trimmed front seats, I'm keen to see how they came up. Finally I sort of ran out of funds for the engine for the time being. So in a month or two ill order the rest of my bottom and top end.
Stay posted.

So I picked up my diff yesterday and brought it up to the farm. I pulled it outa the ute and for some reason ran the tape over it.......1450..... wtf its standard length.
Only a problem because I had dropped off a housing 1380mm with dummie brakes fitted. All I freaking wanted was mounts welded onto a housing. Some.point along the line I was told that I needed new axles and that what I had wouldn't work. So I bit the bullet and paid big bucks for all new stuff.
So I pull some photos of the housing before it was.sent and what I have and bugger me,the diff shop had used a different housing. A "less beefier" one at that and not told me until I pointed it out.
I'm sooo peeved. I wait 4mths for a chance to get down here for it and mesure for wheels for this crap. Try and take me for a ride. I'm just venting but I'm sure the 2hr drive tomorrow will give me plenty of time to stew over it.
Keep posted because Im getting up at 4 to drive down and "drop it off" the shop still have my housing out the back untouched. Don't be surprised if I try and get a full refund and take it up to mackay to get done.

A consequence I was willing to bare in an attempt to run dish and outlay $$$ for custom offsetrims
It just realy works me up because I hate having to push Shit up hill with a stick on a project that is something you consider your pride and joy.

So The Bay isn't the only place with the monkeys running the shop.
i feel your pain,Ive been ripped off with bad workmanship so many times ive given up on a few projects over the last 14 years, one shop that closed owed me a trailbike as they had it when shutting doors and took it to the tip after i had waited 3 months for minor repair to electrics,As owner was bankrupt i could do nothing.

So i went down there today and got led out to the diff builder who tells me the housing i gave them is too short for the shock mounting point to work in there standard configuration with the commo brakes. I replied that I was aware of this and that I would rotate the brake callipers to the front of the disk. He said that the brakes I had would not work and would have to fit commo brakes. I new this and have a complete vnss borgwarner diff in the shed.
He then tells me that the shock mounting point may then hit the dust cover and that he had told me the brakes wouldnt work when i dropped it off(hense his decision to go ahead and build me a diff at standard length with new axels).
At this point I was sick of it and told him to just weld the standard torana mounts on. This is all I ever wanted done! I know that it probably wont all just bolt together. However once this is done I could fit it to the car with whatever brakes I wanted and play with rotating the calliper, modifying the dust cover and if need be move the shock mounting position. I was willing to make this my problem.
It also turns out my old 28 splin original axels will be fine to use. SO lucky me gets refunded for the axels they made me at a cost of $950. I also have a hunch that the brakes that came with the housing (suppose to be fraud el) will also be fine to use.

and a pic of my housing
and to make me feel warm again a few more of my seats and how they look in the car. Forgive me for the car being covered in sh$t and the inside being just as bad.

soo working out of my "mobile operations facility" I decided to start prepping my control arms for blasting. This required getting creative to remove the ball joints. Below you can see the jig I used.
Then after nipping it up until its nice and tight. Give it one well directed "tap" with a fitters best friend and......
Bobs your uncle!
and after removing the bush rubber then flattening the outer shells and knocking them out your done lol easy!
here is one i prepared earlier.

Well my mind turned to brakes as I wanted to upgrade from the Girlock's that I have. Sooo after considering a pair of Skyline 4 pots I found something waaaay better at a good price on the other side of the world. They are currently in the care of a forum member, on the other side of the world, waiting to be sent to me.... and Im excited!
After this getting this picture I decided to throw some black onto the k-frame and one of the LCA's. The Uppers are waiting to get the bushes pressed on and I have a crack to fix on the other LCA.
I was happy enough with how they came out until I had a whole heap of little bubbles appear.......... thats what you get for being lazy folks! Should have run the moisture trap and more hose. It is most likely that I will leave it as it passes the 10 foot test and looks neat enough.
Once the rest are painted I will fit the ball joints:
In this time I will try and sort out some discs and shocks. Ill also measure up for mounting brackets for the callipers.
Also following up on my diff:
I will wait until my holidays to fit it to the car and prey that I can make it work in its current form..... If I cant then Ill look at cutting the shock mounts and replacing with Commo type.
