When you lower the car to the point you are talking you start to encounter issues like bump steer etc.
Look at Litre8.
Howard now uses it as a dedicated track car, and its not really low at all.
I think you are confusing your ideas.
Go-karts dont have suspension, F1 cars are a purpose built+designed racing car, there is no way in hell you can compare an F1 cars properties to that of a torana, or any road car for that matter.
And when did you last see an F1 car trying to negotiate a surburban back street complete with pot holes, uneven corners and speedbumps.

By that i was talking about centre of gravity being low and NOT being like a boat. I know it will be stiff to ride in and uncomfortable but i dont think i will lose too much handleing

These would all be 100% legal on our roads! (lowest point is probably 100mm)

Then it will handle better.
Its not about how low the car is that makes it handle, no body roll is not always a good thing. Its about how the suspension reacts through the corner, how it rebounds after the corner, how controllable it is etc etc. Simply lowering a cars COG, especially until its riding so firm that it begins to smash the car to pieces, will not help te handling as much as a decent shock/spring/swaybar combo will.
People like Howard (Litre8) Greg (82911) and a bunch of the "older" (i use that word nicely... trust me ) will be able to explain it all heaps better then matt and I can, but it seems you have your heart set on having a commodore themed torana.... go for it..

Lowering a car is more about its look than handling, as said before a proper set up car will handle very well even at almost standard height.
last i measured my car it was at about 125mm and I was pretty happy with its height but that was without the exhaust in.
and last time it was on the road the back was up too high because of spring issues and it handled better than the gts except under brakes.

you can dump it on its arse...
get pulled over
cop a canary
jack it back up
rid the canary
dump it again...
or
you can dump on its arse...
decide it drives like shit
and jack it back up to a nice compromise
win win situation.
P.S sorry if this has already been mentioned. I skimmed over the post

edit: Although back in the day air shocks were very popular and could raise the car quite a bit. Didn't do a lot for the handling though and never seen any on the front end.

edit: all that only takes into account length, if you're changing spring rates etc you'll want a set of shocks that can keep up

How low can you go in a LH with springs before having to look at getting new shocks?
