ok my first race meet was last night did me licencing passes first then on my first quallifing pass it was blowing water onto my helmet down deep end of track so we had a it of a look but decided to run it anyway my first race after burn out i saw there was a water like substance spraying on the back of the supercharger so i turned it off we put another head gasket on and it was a little better but not right so we decided to take our esky full of beer to bar area and get some real hp stories.

had a closer look today it has cracked another iron head this time almost all the way round the chamber.

anyway here is a pic of the engine with the head removed for anyone interested.

ok ive ordered a new set of edelbrock 74cc heads for this thing, we will freshen the engine up aswell now that i can drive it proper we will also be modding intake mani as we are almost certan that this head was caused by detonation we think that is coming from the intake mani not being quite right for this combo and running some cyls to lean.

That would be great hayden,

getting some help from trent but some extra photos would be good.

Just throwing a few ideas around at the moment but have to be carfull not to get devorsed.

Did you use crome moly,or can you go to some other carbon alloy im not sure of the regulations involved

in drag racing.

regards brock

It's amasing how simple FED's are when you break them down. Mine uses a proper FED steering box but I found out VW beelte boxes run the same ratios. I won one a while back on evilbay to check the theory and it's true. $20 v $300-$400. I've pretty much got all the bits drawn in CAD to produce a new car if you need any help. I wish I started from scratch on mine because we did so many mods it would have been faster to build it new. Interesting thing to note on moly v MS. The ANDRA spec tubing for the cage in MS was more expensive than moly. Hence my car has a moly cage.

ok we now have this engine stripped down for som maintiance work. this is a scat h beam and ross slug out of it we are now going to get a set of home made heads from NZ for it with 2 plugs per cyl and looks like im going ova there on a weekend to bring them back.we are also going to fit a crower roller cam to it as the flat tappet cam has the tips worn off it.so we are going to run 2 separate ign systems with a seprate dissy for each.

just am update on this thing,

we are trying to get it together to run it at the nostalgias here in about a month we have now decided to run the old cam as the new lifters are still a few weeks away and the new heads are at the machine shop getting the oring groove done the rest of it is coming along with the twin dissy drive almost done aswell.

we spent most of yesterday picking these new old motas up from dads mate we got the lot for almost nothing there are a couple of std ones in there aswell they are the earlier ones and they dont have valve inserts in them as that is a problem we are incountering aswell the inserts coming loose.

well all i can say is i did one test run in this car yesterday during the qualifing for the 1/8mile series and um it now does wheelies lets say huge wheelies front wheels were higher than the concrete barriers and i was shifting into second gear while in the air we didnt damage anything but the crowd loved it and we now need to make a weelie bar for it.i had to lift off the gas about half track cos my visor was up and i was being sprayed with alcohol and it stung my eyes but it did feel good. will post pics of wheel stand when i get them.

well forgot about this thread,

it has since gone 9.42 @140mph with low boost and safe timing, we are going to built a new engine , moly chassis (safer)as it is getting a little fast now.
