It's already in the public domain if you are driving it.
I think it's different if its a photo taken in someone's home or at a business and they probably should be obscured unless you have permission otherwise.

I'm not saying it's a legal issue, copyright belongs to whoever took the photo, not the subject (or the owner thereof).

I'm just saying it would be the courteous thing to do, if you appreciate their work, why not respect their privacy as well?

As above, I'm for both comments.
Fair enough the car is out around town for anyone & everyone to look at & recognise but maybe just the right thing to do blocking out the plate - albeit for this little community, to show you're doing the right thing by others.
I'll wipe away the tears now...

wouldn't it be common courtesy to obscure the number plate?

It used to happen here more often and it was discussed years ago nobody really gave a hoot and less people are doing it now

any NSW car, you can jump on the net and find out lots about a car, rego expiry date, insurance company, if it has been engineered or anything and the last 4digits o the vin

Really?  I thought the privacy act stopped all that. I remember bitd you could go to the RTA, pay $7 and get the owner's address. It was meant to be used in the case of accidents, etc. but they outlawed the practice; my guess is too many were using it for stalking.

anyone who works for a registration authority, police, waterways, fisheries, EPA, councils, insurance companies can run a check and get all the info on the car, the owner, the garaging address

Only my insurance co. has my garage postcode and it's not the same as my address so thieves may end up breaking in my garage to find the wrong car. Cops, etc. would only be able to trace it to my home address but if you have a friend with access to an insurance co. database; there's no point giving them no. plate details; once in the database it's easier for them to run a filter on Torana, they can then filter it further for model, engine capacity, etc. Then they just pick the cars that are insured for the highest value.

Spotted this beast in Woodvale today.

Looked and sounded fantastic.

It looked familiar, this is a pic I took at Cars and Coffee last year.

I'm amazed at how many Acacia Ridge built GTR's and XU1's are turning up in WA.

My LJ two-door back in the day, with 245 Goodriches on the back was lethal in the rain. LSD banjo didn't help and when the 13-in chromies started spinning, you were a passenger. Good fun as a 19-year-old.

Nope, I just cropped it, so you wouldn't have to zoom in. Here's the original. It had a really nice twin exhaust and sounded awesome. The driver was having a bit of trouble getting it off the line without wheelspin too. Given the weather, it was a pretty good effort. 12b1192eaa2b1fc00cc5a92db6b5c9ae.jpg

Thanks Adam, must be the digital zoom that made the plate look strange. I was thinking maybe the plate was a fake and I didn't want to say that out loud hence the photoshop comment.

Cheers

Dave.
