No I ran 32 psi. Didn't have a tyre pressure guage with me. Was only there for a play, next time will be there for a serious run.

Changing diff gears on the weekend time permitting then I will look into some rubber in the new year. Back out there in January test and tune. Keen as mustard. Got some more playing to do to see if I can squeeze a few more HP out of it. I am lucky enough to have a dyno at work so a bit work and hopefully will crack the 350bhp mark.

Thanks for the comment guys and gals.

SORRY to say this Waz but you are now an ADDICT welcome to the club, symptoms are wanting to go fast, asking what will it run & then the changes to see if you can run faster after you first hit, then asking the other Torana's around you in the staging lanes what they are running (i saw you suss out the missus in our red LC) trying to get more info to help the addiction...
SORRY MATE BUT YOUR NOW AN ADDICT, WELCOME TO THE CLUB?

Yeah no problem we'll be there at both january meetings, were going out again on saturday night, we've put a delay box in the car & the missus is still getting used to it,(hence the bad reactions) so we'll go out again & get as much practice as possable before the january meeting, & try to the ET back to were they should be in this weather

Have been back to willowbank tonight. Transmission very sad though, I have a video buts 12mb and not sure how to decrease the size will post it if I work it out.

Anyway changed the diff gears to 4.11's put a set of drag radials on and ran a 11.87 at 102mph. Transmission slipped bad in top so backed off well before the finish line, hence the low mph.

Had a good 60ft though of 1.6.

Looking to buy a new turbo 350 in the next week or two. As well a long list of uprgrades, starting with better brakes.

Here's a link to the video. Listen for the gear change into top, or lack of gear change and I back off pretty much straight after that. Nothing the old friend $$$$ won't fix!

radials?? what are you running waz?? normally the softer compounds like american racers and slicks etc are rags designed to bag and have plenty of sidewall flex to aid traction...

not being a smartarse just curious as to what they are

your car (running low 11's) should be doing around the 1.3 - 1.4 60ft so theres another few tenths...

also keep in mind the ratios of a TH350 general consensus is they are like a glide with an extra gear in the middle

hope you get it sorted dude will be good to see it crack a 10!!
i was going to call in on my way back from toowoomba but i had someone meeting me at home, would have been good to see you run it!!

Tyres are M/T street radials.

I agree with the 60ft times, but I need to upgrade my brakes as I can't stall it up on the line as it just pushes the car.

That 60ft time of 1.6 is just driving it off the line, no stall. Converter is a 4000 so would like to use it.

Because of the size of the cam I have very little manifold vacuum and as soon as I touch the go pedal there is no vacuum so it just won't hold it. Still has all original brakes and 6cyl booster.

I have plenty of traction, tyres are really good.

WAZ355
1.6 60ft is were you should be for low to mid 11 sec times, where Pro 192 got 1.3-1.4's beats me that is way off unless you what to run high 9's low 10's, our LC runs mid to low 1.5 60ft times & we run mid 10's on 26"x8.5" slick with a 3400-4000rpm launch(depending on track & weather conditions).
If you want to compare your ET times with other cars go into willowbank raceway web site & go into results (top right side of home page) & compare with other times in super street, i think you'll find 1.6 is fine for your ET...

Thanks wayne.

Saw your LC run and it luanches really well. After watching your car I don't think I could run a 1.5 60ft either.

dave

The 60ft time (1.3 seconds) is the first recorded time you get on your time slip (after your reaction) when you have left the start line at a drag racing event, what the 60ft time is, is the amount of time it took your vehicle to get from a standing start to the 60ft timimg marker, most drag racers use this as very important infomation, ie: start line traction, tyre pressure,(too high or too low),also weather condition can effect your 60ft times whch will have an effect on your overall ellapsed time,
hope this helps.
P.S. your reaction will have no effect on your 60ft time or your ellapsed time, the timer wont start until the beam has been broken

Hi all
I'm interested in this, because I'm experiencing the same thing. The thing is, my car already sports 330mm front disks with Brembo calipers, so it's far from lacking in brakes.
I'm only running a 2800 stall (at the moment) but the the same sort of thing is happening. With the MT's on, the car just pushes forward from around 2000rpm.

I've been told just to stall it up just enough to take any slack out of the drivetrain, and not to worry too much about getting absolute maximum rpm whilst holding the car on the line. So far so good - any variations in staging rpm haven't show up in the my 60ft times, high 1.6's are the best so far.

Any experience or thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Cheers
Harve

You will find that becuse a stall has X amount stall dosnt mean you will get that much stall on the start line, our LC (chev 383) has a 5000rpm stall in it & with 8.5" slick it will only stall to around 2500-2800 rpm on the start line before it starts pushing forward or wheel spinning when using the foot brake.

I think you'll find its to do with torque multipication through the drive line, once the vehicle is stalled up the suspension is loaded, the only place/ thing for the torque to do is start pushing the vehicle or try to brake traction, which could also have an effeact on your 60ft times.

The vehicle is at the start line, stalled/ torqued up waiting to launch, then when you do take off the car is all ready torqued up which is not allowing the suspension to do its thing & transfer the load/ torque to the back wheels & is proberly pulling/bogging your car down, just a suggestion try leaving from idle & see if it has any effect on your 60ft times, the convertor will still flash to 2500rpm thats where it's lock up point is, this should also hit the rear tyres harder causing them push the car forward, also play around whith tyre pressure's.

Our LC runs a 5000rpm stall convertor & we also run a trans-brake running through a 2-step, which allows me to select the RPM at which i what to leave the start line at, currently we are leaving the line from 3000-3400rpm (depending on track conditions) any higher & it hits the tyre's to hard & wheel spins instead of pushing the car forward, & thats with a std Torana rear end.
Just my thoughts, Cheers
Wayne
