I am under the impression that 5 out of the first 22 GTRs came with LSD ( limited slip diff).Did 5A come with LSD ?.Obviously the original engine is long gone......? Anyone know of any other old ones getting around ?

wether it is the first GTR or not. I like it. The colours look similar to the LH's that HDT raced.

It looks so incomplete for such a complete car. Does it have a bootlid lock barrel? With the painted fuel cap & grill, no centre caps or dress trims and sitting high at the front it just looks weird and disgusting. The paint itself would probably look alright if it had the same chrome parts as a normal LC XU-1

I recall seeing a picture of this paint scheme in a book and it being described as exactly that.

Hi all ive just got back, we headed to the beach for a few days, Ive just read all the posts that u forum members have said about the gtr
im very impressed in that u guys have had a positive input regarding my friends LC GTR
As for the color scheme as weird as it lookes they are the colors the GMH boys wanted it,
As many forum members are asking why it was painted these colors i still dont know but i will be ringing him in the next day or 2
to squeeze some more info about it, and i will be be more than happy to share the info he tells me with u
Its good to see that people are able to share there cars with us forum members for us to enjoy in such a positive note
regards
aldo

PS i hope that every one is having a good break

HI my friend and his wife came over for dinner last night and of course he wanted to come on to the forum to read the input about his car as he doesn't get on the forum.

After some discussion about the torana he gave me a hint about the colors that they were going to be race colors - he was telling me about in 74/75 he believes a HDT L34 was raced in similar colors.

My theory was I thought it was so the opposition couldn't get a good shot of the car at lang lang test track because of the black front and the way the paint was but like I said that was my theory.

He has now decided to restore the car in its original colors - I can assure you all that no money will be spare to bring it back to its original condition

As I told you all at the start he has MANY projects on the go u guys would be more than interested, in so it may be a wee while until we see the gtr back - he has all the parts to finnish it off, it has taken him 18 months to collect them all i believe its not to far away now to get into the panel shop so will keep you all posted.

P.S. As for the guys who were interested in the LJ XU1 i put on the forum last week he has in the garage - he has PROMISED me that he will have more photos at least 15 - before the end of this week as I got up him about it....

regarde aldo

Pantah hi yes the No 1 gts is going under for surgery for a very expensive full rebuild
that was one of the reasons why he is selling the rusty xu1 apart from needing garage space
he has collected most of the parts he needs for it and of course the right cast dates on the parts
a lot of the parts are nos grill and surrounds b/ bars headers etc etc
i believe it will be in the panel shop in the next couple of weeks to get bead blasted then put on a rotisery for repairs
i will keep u informed when this takes place
regards aldo
