I'm pretty sure the "youth" you speak of that ruins Summernats is my age and older.

no Heath I think we were brought up a little differently....
I say bring back the days where a little discipline was allowed starting at home and school.
Going back to the old days... the local cop would give you a kick up the arse if he saw you doing something stupid.

I still cant understand the youth of today going to an event, then getting so drunk that they cant remember it the next day, why go, stay home and get pissed and leave the enthusiasts to enjoy it without stupid incidents, oh and by the way I know you Heath dont come across as one of these dickheads, just a shame there isnt a lot more like you.

Yeah Chic was caught but there are circumstances.... The road he was travelling at 77 kph on is usually an 80kph zone, BUT it had been recently signposted as a 40kph zone for roadworks. Chic neglected to see the new signage. It was a simple oversight nothing more. No beat up here with this story.

Whilst at Summernats I asked a number of people if they were aware this same road had new signage and none of them including myself had noticed even though we traveled on it for scrutineering. Had it had been me that was caught it would never had made the papers and news.

Doesn't the same thing happen with every motorsport event? More enthusiasts go each year, and it builds up to a mass event. Then you get people doing wheelies, skids, etc and the rent-a-crowd come in. I am told the same thing happend at Phillip Island GP, it was choca block, then the cops came in the next year and it had never been the same since. or something.

Summernats will probably always have a dickhead factor to it. But I still intend on taking my car there, one day.

I'm sorry but how do you not know whats going on with the safety precautions taken (reducing speed limit to 40km/h) of your own event? I myself did not see the signage, though I did see police traveling at 80km/h up the road alongside other vehicles.

I understand that 'Sunshine'. As I said, I did not see the signs either, though I would have thought he would have known the road would be restricted for his own event.

Sunshine just maybe he had a lot on his mind and still made a human error.

The road was NOT restricted for his own event either, I clearly stated its under repair - roadworks.

Hooray for redundancy!

P.S. Daily Telegraph and Herald Sun both say that it was reduced to 40 for the event. You can't blame mitch for believing the media over 'Herne from GMH-Torana.com.au'...

:)

That road has been undergoing road works for the last 6 months at least..... I am sorry I didnt realise they changed it 6 months ago for Summernats lol And after all that time I still dont recall seeing a sign, no doubt its there. The Police agree with me that its no real big deal cos they only gave Chic a warning! And of course the media doesnt do beat ups the way some forumers dont either eh.

Back on the cars, check out this beautiful LJ. Has run 10.38 over the quarter (no gas!!) and made it into the Elite Hall, even though the owner, Frank, only originally intended entering the Street class. Not sure if you're on here Frank, but top stuff all the same! :spoton:

Yes, if anyone in Melbourne wants to see this car. I dare say it will probably be at the Hot Rod Show (at the exhibition centre) at the end of the month. It's a great car in the flesh and a lot quicker than you'd expect

Very nice car indeed and no doubt worthy of all the attention it gets. ^^^^^^^^^^^
That engine bay to me is 'almost' pure perfection.
I don't know how I came to miss it at the Nats but I did. I guess I was busy in my own little world.
