thinking of fitting a 16inch fan to my LJ. has MAX CURRENT DRAW : 11.3 AMPS. also will run spotties, couple of amps maybe

so am wondering if it would pay to upgrade the alt.. and if so.. how/with??

like can i just buy one and bolt it in? no wiring loom mods etc??

i assume you intend to use a relay and a alternator upgrade never goes astray... i run an 80 amper on mine but 55 is also a common upgrade to... the get these pumping out good numbers like 130 amps these days so there are plenty of options

I'd talk to an auto lekky, only to make sure you get the altenator that has the same mounting pattern as yours.

I'd be buying something around the 80A mark, that way no matter what you want to run it should be plenty!

I got a Bosch 120A for the Monaro, but it's got a reasonable size stereo in it too, plus.. i like overkill :P

All we had to do was use a rattle gun to remove the nut from the front of the old unit, and rattle it on to the new unit! Viola, Pullet and all on new altenator!

it actually pretty well bolted in and we ran a couple of heavier feed wires to help get that power back to the battery.

Best of luck!
