Yet another Hatch rebuild

Tim fitted the power steering pump, lines & belt. Because I have a Gilmer the fit up was not straight forward at all.
The pump is from a VH Commodore, as the bracket mounts on the passenger side, and if I used V belts the fit-up would have been straight forward, but why do things the easy way when there is a harder way to go about it.
Tim first cut a chunk out of the mounting bracket, and braced it for added strength.
The pulley still needed to move towards the pump about another 15mm, this is how he went about it.
Cleaned up the pulley.
Put it in the lathe, and started scoring the outer off.
Cut a piece of tube and TIG welded it on.
And did the same for the V-belt section of the pulley.
Pressed it back on to the pump.
Cleaned the whole lot up.
Bit of paint.
Now it lines up & fits beautifully.
If anyone is considering this mod with a Gilmer, you also need to pack out the water pump pulley 16mm (the width of the alloy V-belt pulley on the crank), you will also need to pack out the Alternator to line the belt back up, Tim used Alloy spacers that he made. I used one of diecrest's bolt up kits (yeah right, "BOLT UP").
Spacers for the Alternator.
All Done

There was a couple of little dints in the underside of the hatch, Tim wanted to fix them but I told him not to worry about them, you'll never see them, unless you want to be a picky bugger.
Purchased some hinges a while back, so while the hatch was off Tim spilled some paint on them.
All back together.
We fitted the front section of the park brake cable in the original mount but it sits too high with the new TKO & tail shaft.
So Tim made a new bracket to bolt to the side of the gearbox as there are optional gearbox mounting holes.
Nice & low now, should have no issues with the cable rubbing
My brother in-law wanted to go up and play a little as well, Tim is kind to the special kids.
So we did a bit of this.
And a bit of this.
In the hope to start it, but the MSD module was dead, off to the shop through the week got a new digital 6AL popped it in yesterday, still no fire :( new coil was dead, are you FN kidding me! so I replaced it with the trusty o'll Procomp coil (till I get a new Blaster 2). and in the end we got it going.
Absolutely rapped with it now
Cheers.

Haha Thanks Chris, it sounds a lot better when you are there, or maybe its just me because it is finally running (a little excited ) I recon the exhaust will tone it down a little.
Too right there Michael, that shot is actually the second attempt, in the first one, it was the last day as I was going back to the Goldie, and Tim wanted to take a photo of two ugly mugs, but in the first pic Tim was smiling as was I, but I had my finger up, Tim looked at the pic & said right we have to do another one, that's why I'm laughing so much.

Oh yeah, had another little drive of the hatch, I love driving this thing, power steering is light, clutch is light, the brakes are almost non existent Bit more of a bleed and they should be good, well here's some photo's & video's that Tim and Craig (Brother in-law) took
A few photos with Tim's Ute
Cheers Paul.

Thanks for the kind words, yeah I think we all have been on the motivation Rolla-coaster, I've been chipping away for the last 4 years with help from Tim in this last stage (he's done an awesome job). good luck with your build, keep chipping, you'll get there in the end.
Exhaust is on, Tim did a little Video so I could see/hear it, still sounds brilliant.
Paul.
