Too many donuts ??? :)

Went and saw Tim today, did a couple of little things while Tim was rerunning the hand brake setup, he said I should be able to bring it back home with in two weeks, so I'm looking forward to that :D

Tim started to measure and fit the hand brake cables, we started to use the original mount it the tunnel.
But soon realized that doing it this way was going to scrape against the tail shaft.

Attached File  525993_399907940091859_980840753_n.jpg   39.49K   1 downloads

So Tim whipped up another bracket to run the cables lower and miss the tail shaft.

Attached File  425418_400228123393174_1932136463_n.jpg   58.58K   2 downloads

Its mounted to the lower section of the gearbox.
Attached File  154785_400228180059835_656976815_n.jpg   61.15K   1 downloads

He made some brackets to mount the casing ends and welded them onto the seat mounts.

Attached File  149579_412343358848317_81243831_n.jpg   37.36K   1 downloads

Attached File  480129_417149511701035_1914126751_n.jpg   125.07K   1 downloads

Tim cut the tank brackets to get clearance for the exhaust.

Attached File  734358_417149681701018_20070091_n.jpg   42.71K   1 downloads

Attached File  182258_417149635034356_249167114_n.jpg   55.65K   3 downloads

So that was excellent, now we can continue with the exhaust.
Tim loaded up the hatch onto his trailer.

Attached File  62931_417149778367675_919473325_n.jpg   59.15K   1 downloads

And dropped it off to the Exhaust shop.

Attached File  65271_417149768367676_99444364_n.jpg   115.3K   4 downloads

Only to find out that there is going to be a clash with the Handbrake cables, who knew, they were up nice and high, but I wanted the exhaust up as high as it could go, I have a stupid steep driveway. :(

Attached File  563854_423294404419879_1329253261_n.jpg   63.63K   1 downloads

So we decided to disconnect the cables, and sort it out later, and they carried on with the exhaust.

Attached File  481420_423294387753214_300782528_n.jpg   36.71K   1 downloads

So I am quite happy with the way it came out :)

Tim went down and picked the car up from the exhaust shop and started to nut out a new idea to run the handbrake cables.

So he came up with this idea, he's a bit of a clever chap. :D

Removed the exhaust and tail shaft.

Attached File  382203_423294527753200_2138523093_n.jpg   32.21K   2 downloads

Attached File  537789_423294491086537_1725146102_n.jpg   40.04K   1 downloads

Made a new bracket to bolt to the side of the gearbox.

Attached File  150974_423294607753192_601905279_n.jpg   60.99K   1 downloads

Attached File  525704_424143341001652_2115487563_n.jpg   29.51K   1 downloads

Now it sits up nice and high.

Attached File  600633_424494520966534_907738689_n.jpg   42.32K   1 downloads

Then he made new brackets for the casing ends again, but up in here now.

Attached File  600772_424494534299866_875732633_n.jpg   75.99K   2 downloads

And with the cables in, I think it looks very neat.

Attached File  538092_424143681001618_189407828_n.jpg   39.66K   1 downloads

Attached File  521915_424143561001630_1227600451_n.jpg   39.55K   1 downloads

Plenty of clearance with the exhaust and tail shaft in.

Attached File  163393_424494590966527_623949767_n.jpg   69.5K   1 downloads

Attached File  544591_424494620966524_1583612470_n.jpg   53.89K   2 downloads

Cant see the cables now. :D

Attached File  154838_424494600966526_1657436744_n.jpg   36.19K   1 downloads

I went to put the air cleaner on, sounds simple enough, NUP, the bolt it came with, was too small. so Tim made one from two bolts.

One on the left is a stainless steel bolt that Tim had, and on the right is what the air cleaner came with.

Attached File  603989_424494417633211_1932418542_n.jpg   58.38K   2 downloads

He turned down and drilled a hole in his lathe.

Attached File  483637_424494450966541_1917093079_n.jpg   39.65K   0 downloads

And TIG'ed them together.

Attached File  44321_424494437633209_74522334_n.jpg   24.09K   0 downloads

All fitted up.

Attached File  13139_424494467633206_711186385_n.jpg   38.21K   0 downloads

Exhaust was done in Nambour on the sunny coast, cant remember what they were called, Tim would know.
The Demon I have is an 850, I did have a 750 DP Holley on there, but went for the demon.

Thanks Stinga, Tim's pretty good at sorting the issues out, seams to like the challenge.

Thanks Jeff, all hatches look good. :spoton:

Hey nice job on the hand brake. But i reckon you should fit a tail shaft loop at the front if you have room. Just to be safe. I for one now what a mess it can make . Just my 2 BOBS worth :surrenderwave: :wedgie:

No worries Ando, don't mind being the guineapig. :D

Hi Trofa, Mate I thought about doing a loop, but I'm going to use it as a cruising car, if my idea changes then I will do one. :)

Thanks for the positive feed back Chris, Rob, Jeff and every one else, It certainly helps with the motivation, cheers.

Oh, and Dane'o, this pic should make up for the lack of Birds in the last lot of photos. :D

Hi Brett, I purchased the power steering from Lenny (Axistr) and he uses Subaru power racks, and in my opinion they are very professionally made, the steering feels great, no more sweat on the brow when turning with wide wheels. :)

Here's his thread.
