Matt you said that beautifully & you are dead right unless you have raced the 1/4 mile in your Torana then nothing can be said as for my car producing smoke (very little) on that drag night. Actually if you all look at the pics & vids the oil smoke is not that bad for a motor that is 35 years of age.

my 2 cents worth

When bench racing with the lads, an old saying always seems to come up...."When the clutch drops, the BS stops."

15.00 with 205's, 2.78 diff and an M21 is a very good time!!!

Herne, I dont think you can judge Keiths times until you have run your own! It's great to speculate what it might run, and say others with similar specs run this so mine will... But at the end of the day, until you take your car to the track and get some timeslips you can't judge!

Any of you guys going to come down and race again!!! Herne? Chris?

Of course I can judge, wtf, this IS Keith we are talking about :P

You would do well to remember it was Keith that started this slanging match by calling my car names and trying to get me pissed off enough to drive up and run. Nice try keith lol
I have no problem with running my car and its no doubt slower than maybe I would like, I really don't know what times it get close to. For those who are ext challenged I will repeat.

I will come and run my car as soon as I can find a trailer or truck to transport my car up and back on - that I can afford. I have made it very clear I won't risk driving up, breaking something and having to leave my car in Sydney unprotected overnight, the car is worth too much to do that with. Damn shame we didnt get the drag strip here in Canberra.
If you guys remember I did ask Struggler if we could use his truck so I was prepared to run my car.

Cheers

Last time I raced at WSID I got smoked off the line by a VW Kombi. It ran a 14.6. WTF? I pulled him up in the pit, "What's in this thing?" reply was "V6 with 100hp shot of NOS." Lucky I wasn't racing in my Torana or I would've been well & truely going home with my tail between my legs.

Yes your are correct to a point herne on this matter - Yes your car does have a stand
alone colour and my intention was not to pi$$ you off by driving your car up. But to
prove to you that my car is as quick as yours if not faster.

cheers Keith

Keith and Herne: you've both got great cars that for as much as they have in common, are very different in many ways. One is an original factory classic muscle car and the other is a beautifully modified one.

Hanging a bit of friendly sh!t on others is something we have probably all done in jest, but the ideal is for it to remain in the spirit of friendly rivalry-nothing more. I'm envious you both have hung onto great cars which you get out to regularly enjoy in a variety of settings.

DD: That's the way mate! :)

Well said Bally253!

The end of the day, the reason i help to organise these kind of events is not to prove who has the quickest torana in the land, it is to get out and have a blast!

We had drag veterans, Regulars like myself, and people who had never ever raced before and THIS is what these nights are all about!
We ALL enjoy getting out and about, having a great yarn with each other and whats better is seeing some of our beasts in action!
Heck Nutboy and GMH355 were good enough to come out and support us, but didnt wish to race and good on them! From what i;ve heard they enjoyed themselves as much as we did.

I Really enjoy having nights like this go off with a bang, and if it werent for everyone who turns up to have a go, and those who rock up to say Gday and have a look then there would be nothing!

Keep your eyes peeled for another on in late March or Early April!

And i can understand Herne's reasoning for not wanting to take the risk of driving what is a BLOODY long way only to have something go bang. DOnt worry mate, Keith really IS only shit stirring! It'll be good to see you guys come up to catch up for a cruise one day, and likewise all of us come down for a run down your way some time!.... May have to organise a Golborn cruise... half way!

Cheers!

I organised this race night with chris and his brother rob over a month ago. We were just gonna head out and have a few runs and test out his new cam, and hopefully see if I could beat my PB. I put it on the forums as I knew there were many people who were itching for a run, some who havent been since the last drag day in mid 2007, as well as try and get some new members out who havent ran the 1/4 mile before, and a chance to put some faces and real names to screen names. It was definately an enjoyable night, and chris and I will be organising another night to head out in the next month or so, as he will getting a mafless tune and OTR done to his VY SS. I will put it up on the forums once we have organised a date, and hopefully get some more members out.

Tiny, I am all for another drag day in March/April. I know there are some members who really want a meet on in April, due to work commitments they are unable to attend before hand, so I am sure we could work something out.

I hope everyone who ran a PB updates there times in the Timeslips section of the forums, and hopefully we can beat them again on a colder night!

I couldnt agree more uncle lol It does take big balls to risk breaking something especially when running an M21 and a bango (banjo). Neither are particularly strong hence thats why some of us IMPROVE our cars lol

Lets face it we all know its not always the fastest car that wins on the strip :)

As for the friendly bantering between Keith I and others lets hope it doesn't stop ;) Its all good fun and we are very good friends at the end of the day.

Tiny, I hope we can all meet up for a cruise one day and just maybe it could end at the strip or track for some more fun but we might need to look at some sort of recovery/tow unit for those unfortunate enough to break something.

Back in the good ol days when it didnt cost an arm and a leg to race some of the more clever guys made up their own timing devices at the start and finishing line, sure there were no printouts nor Xmas trees, just a strip and some simple lights but the FUN was there and it was bloody competitive to boot.

Cheers

Thanks Keith. The great thing about Toranas is that they were never too precious to be driven in the spirit in which they were built, so great to see you using your car and enjoying it at the track.

My old hatch ran a tunnel rammed 308 with a toploader. It was my everyday car-driven everywhere, raced etc and also into work right in the middle of the city everyday. No matter how busy work was, I always arrived home with a smile on my face!

It may be a bit off-topic but is anyone planning on going to the Powercruise at Eastern creek at the end of Feb? The Powercruise includes "street drags" with no offical timing and a rolling start so easier on the driveline than a standing start for those worried about diffs etc. Of course there is plenty of other opportunity to load up the mechanical with all the other events.

It might be good to get a few forum members together there if anyone is planning on attending.

Welcome to
Carline Mufflers Powercruise Sydney
To be run at Eastern Creek Raceway
26th 27th 28th Feb & 1st March 2009
Hi Guys & Girls,
All Garages and Carports have sold out.

Latest News 16th Jan 2009
Righto geez there is shiploads happening at the Carline Mufflers Powercruise in Sydney this year. First up I am working my proverbial #$% off trying to get a 1 day Powerplay happening in Sydney for November 2009. Thats about the only month the raceway have anything close to available so cross ya fingers Ill get one sooner or later.

Like I said above, there was a mistake with the DVD deal on the entry form and we will be producing a stand alone DVD for each event in Australia for 2009. They will no longer be available through Supercheap Auto but a few other stores will have them depends on where you live. Call us or go to www.powercruise.com to see where you can get them. We will also have them for sale at the event for $25 as a deal if you pre order them. otherwise they will be $40 from the website and other retail stores.

Ok the big news. The usual Gate 7 will be used for entrants like usual. We will be having spectators go in through Gate 4 which is off the roundabout on Brabham drive. This way we can have all spectators come into the venue on the grandstand side. We are looking to spread out more so the grandstand side will have the main stage, the dyno and a few traders. I am also working on having track access from the grandstand side as well so for clubs or groups of people who wanna go hang on that side of the track, you will be able to get out onto the track for the cruising sessions easier than you will on the other side. There is the incentive to hang on the grandstand side so if you wanna take it up, check out the Trader Map in the Sydney traders section on the website for all the info.
Corporate boxes are also on the cards for this year. If you have a group of 20 or more and wanna hang in a corporate box for the weekend (no sleeping in the boxes allowed) then drop us a line and we can sort you out for a great deal on food and drink for the weekend.
The entrant numbers are the strongest ever with just over 480 at this point which is up again from last year. I have been trying to be harder on shiteboxes so hopefully there will be fewer of those. However i do allow them into the burnouts so if you got a car built for burnouts and its at least got more than nothing. Drop me an e-mail with pics and well see what we can do.
The same program will be used again as in past years. Its on the website somewhere so check it out as well while your there find out all other info on the event so you can be fully informed. We hate rippin people from the track simply cause they didnt know they werent allowed to drift in the cruising.

Ive put some larger tyres on the new ELVIS and with Johny Wilson and Simon Krygers cars being in the house, Im keen to give them a run down the 130km/hr front straight ? There are also shiteloads of other tough cars showing up, so many I cant list them all here so if you wanna see the toughest of the tough, not necessarily the showiest, get yourself out to Carline Mufflers Powercruise from Thursday 26th Feb to 1st march at Eastern Creek Raceway. Its gunna be a blast..

Yep you read it right, Powercruise is heading back to Sydneys Eastern Creek Raceway 26th, 27th, 28th Feb & 1st March 2009.

Entry forms for Powercruise Sydney 2009 will be released on Monday 1st December 2008. Entry forms are now available for download HERE. Entry forms will automatically be posted out to all previous entrants at Carline Mufflers Powercruise #12.

Pre Paid before Mon 16th Feb 2009 $180 (Includes 1 driver pass & 1 vehicle pass)
On the day of the event $240 (Includes 1 driver pass & 1 vehicle pass)

Powercruise is generally for registered cars only however in the interest of all things tough, we do accept some unregistered cars depending on the situation. If your car is supercharged or has a roll cage or any other out of this world modifications that wouldnt allow it to be run on the roads, then yes this qualifies. If you have an awesome looking street machine that can be registered but isnt due to affordability or time constraints, then yes this also qualifies. If you have a backyard thrasher with a v8 in it with exhausts exiting through the bonnet and no interior, then this example does not qualify for unregistered entry into Powercruise. So you can see we look at all situations on their own merit so if you think your car qualifies for unregistered entry into Powercruise, please e-mail us your details, the reasoning behind why the car is unregistered and make sure you send at least 2 pictures, one of the whole outside of the car and an interior picture please. This will help in making the decision quicker and easier. The e-mail address to send the info to is [email protected]

Please ensure you send this info before you send your entry form. All enquiries will receive a response and if your application has been accepted, we will send you a confirmation email that you will need to attach to your entry form when you send it. If youre not sure either way, you can of course call us here at the office on 0407172413 and well be happy to assist you.

Camping is available at all Powercruise events around Australia. We supply hot showers that are cleaned as often as required which is pretty often considering the large numbers of campers at our events. There are also ample ladies and mens toilets spread around the venue. This includes both demountable building type toilets as well as portable individual toilets for more urgent matters!!. Camping is available for both entrants and spectators and can be paid at the gate on your arrival or prepaid on entry forms if required. The Camping fee is additional to any advertised entrant fee or daily spectator tickets. Camping costs an additional $40 per person for Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday night and is applicable for Brisbane, Sydney and Perth events. That works out to about $13 per night per person. Tasmania and Darwin are the lucky states because the camping fee has been waived for these events due to the limited number of campers and facilities available at the venues. We still ensure adequate toilets are available and some showers are also available.

Powercruise does not book camp sites, we dont hold sites for anyone. Camping is a first in best dressed deal. Check the venue maps for the allocated camping areas please. Some areas are not permitted to have cars in them and some are so please make sure you read the map at the bottom of this page for all the info.

Hi Gerry

Yeah I figure my combo should be ok but as yet totally untested either on the track or the street, as you know I love spirited driving whilst on runs but am not a fan of hooning around town, hence no real testing has been performed.
