The L34 had a good night.
5 passes and 5 PB's. Previous best was 12.39 @ 118

1. 12.15 @ 117
2. 12.05 @ 117
3. 11.85 @ 117
4. 12.03 @ 117
5. 11.84 @ 118

The car was good and now need yo work on getting out of the hole a bit harder. My best 60-footer was 1.76. I think it might be falling over out of the box as it picks up the front left wheel, seems to run out of fuel. Im going to try some jet extensions for the next meeting ( probably in April some time ).

Top night, special thanks to Mitch for getting the idea rolling and special thanks to Tiny for organsing the lane.
Also thank you to Joe - unclefestasl34s, Jim - jim49x, Mick- lxsstorana and anyone else I missed for the pointers on how to get the best out of the car. Much appreciated.

Now, got to clean the rubber off and get it ready for Powercruise in 4 weeks.

Cheers

DD

Can people please download the .MP4 video of my final pass ( in car camera) and tell me if it works and looks good!

It's an MP4 Codec i'm using that Youtube likes, 640x480 video size and it looks really good on my screen when i preview it!

At only around 6Mb.. it beats all of the others!

Cheers!

Looks pretty good, a bit dark in teh cabin and the sound drifts in and out a bit but overall - awesome. Thanks for sharing mate.

Thanks DD!

The sound is a bit dickey because the camera is faulty, It's going back today for replacement! Good service from the Vsport people!

I would have loved to have it outside, but maybe i'll have to convince the marshals first!

Cheers

Hi DD (its John isnt it?)

Mate those times from your L34 are impressive to say the least. Is that a stock L34 308 engine (not sure if stock is the right word to use with L34) or have you modded it? e.g. Diff carbs, headwork etc etc?

Cheers

Hi Herne,

Thanks mate.
Its not the original engine but it is a standard stroke 308 with 100 shot of NOS.
The engine made 362hp on the Dyno Tune.
I also run a top loader and nine inch with 3.70 gears.
I call it the party pack ( all of the original running gear is sitting in storage ).
One day I'll restore it back to original ( one day when I grow up ) :<_<:

No need to grow up anytime soon mate, have fun while you still want to and can, look at me, I dont think I am ever going to stop having fun with cars and I am heading for 62.

I like the term 'party pack' suits the beast well I reckon. mmmm 100 shot of NOS certainly gives the car some 'mumbo'.

Cheers

Well its all good to hang shit on my Torana but but you will never
see your piss buckets run down the 1/4 mile strip. Thats the difference
i take mine to shows but i don't classify my car as a show pony, i class
mine as an original Australian muscle car.

Im almost 43 and Im having more fun now with cars than I ever have in the past. Its funny you know, I used to love the adrenalin of street racing but I haven't been interested in that scene for a lonnnnnng time. That's why I decided to have some fun with the car at WSID and the previous 1/4 mile track when it was running.

Some people say Im crazy for drag racing the L34 but I really cant see the harm in it with the 308/NOS, Top Loader and 9 inch. I wouldn't dream of doing this with the original running gear.

I WILL grow up one day but who knows, I might be older than you Herne. :<_<:

Suck and see.

Unclefestas yellow L34 first run solo pass 1) 12.48 _ 114.85 mph
2) 12.20 _ 116.44 MPH
3) 12.10 _116.88 mph raced Tiny 12.01 112.90 mph ..i red lighted as seen on u-tube ..tiny vs L34....THANKS TINY
4) 12.14 _ 116.19 mph raced 2tough 11.85 112.97 mph
5) 12.25 116.37 last run was done by jim-A9X...
I raced the car for the first time on M/T Radials as a experiment and simply had no traction, could not control the wheel-spin in 1st gear no matter what revs i used,..according to keith1962 he heard the car spin the tyres in all four gears going doing down the track..i normally run a full slick tyre car runs consistent 11.50s at 118.50 mph,..car still showed good top end speed but was down a couple of miles and hour..at the end of the day it was a very enjoyable nights racing..

It was VERY enjoyable Unclefesta!
I'm surprised you couldnt get traction, I know lots of guys who go really well with those tyres ( Me included!)

What size tyre is it you are running? Is it the same as your slick?

I'm going to be up for a new set of M/T ET Streets soon myself, theyve been great though!

DD: I hope you understood what i was meaning in my reply mate! I reckon who needs to grow up when we're having so much fun as we are! It's tops that you come out and have a blast mate, Always awesome to see your beast of a car and get to catch up!

Cheers!

Oh.. and both you and Harve red lit against me! Were you blokes worried about trying to beat me or something!? Both your cars are WAY tougher than mine!!
I was trying to get my launch revs right as well as watch the tree!

hi tiny,..i heard such good reports on them M/T radials so had to try them i used 235/60-15s,.26.5 .i knew after my 3rd run they simply weren't going to work on my car as I'm pretty savage of the line....I'm sure there a great tire but there not for me not unless i play around with the suspension on the car,and i'm not that keen at this stage cause its a regular cruiser..if i race again it will be on a full m/t slick...actually when i raced you and red lighted i was pumped up as friend told me i was being filmed,...if any of you guys have any footage of my passes I'd really appreciate if i can get a hold of it as I'd like to see what the car was behaving like....thanks again tiny

15.00 with 205's, 2.78 diff and an M21 is a very good time!!!

People who have never raced their car dont understand that low 15's a very good... New stock V6 commodores might run high 16's low 17's! So your car is absolutely handing their arse to them on a plate!

Herne, I dont think you can judge Keiths times until you have run your own! It's great to speculate what it might run, and say others with similar specs run this so mine will... But at the end of the day, until you take your car to the track and get some timeslips you can't judge!

In my books, Running an awesome PB is the best feeling in the world! Especially if you do a freak pass! I dont know how WSID runs, but at Heathcote, you do your run and think "f*ck i think i nailed that!". But you can't see your times until you come up the return road and collect the slip from the timing booth! The whole way back you are analysing the run in your head trying to think if it "felt" faster than your last good run... hahaha. Man Im itching to go for a run! Bring on the Victorian Drag day!!!!!

Any of you guys going to come down and race again!!! Herne? Chris?
