i've recentley bought a lx sedan, anyway it doesnt have a carbon canister. just want to know if there all the same?, because ive got a vn commodore that i can take 1 from.

Most are the same, main difference is that some have the vacuum activation mounted on them and other systems the vacuum switch is on the motor.
If they look the same then they most likely are.

LX similar to HZ-WB, Commodore ones have a slightly different arangement on the top. If you can wait until the weekend I will take picures of the different tops of each if you like?

What is the problem with only running catalytic convertor mufflers instead of the carbon/charcoal canister surely engineer would have to pass it ! Anyone attempted !

The charcoal canister filters fumes from the fuel tank vent, nothing to do with exhaust

FlyLX if you want the pictures of the different types of carbon canisters I can email them too you if you PM me you email address. Work's "Big Brother is Watching You" software wont allow me to access photo sites like Photobucket etc to upload photos.

Still not convinced , what is the purpose of a charcoal canisters and how do they work ( I have an understanding of how they work but would like to hear peoples technical opinions )

looks like hz is compatible and presume the uc also.

just had a thought.... do the canisters degrade over time (lx is over 30yrs old) :<_<: and need replacing. :huh: ive never heard of it... but thought id ask anyway

They'll all work fine, just a matter of what you want it to look like and the plumbing required. I believe they do degrade but as they can't be checked easily I'm sure everyone gets away with it
