What's wrong with your arms, are they a bit twisted or something?

Thanks for all the comments guys.
From what I can gather (and I fully admit that I'm learning as I go on this one), the holes for the bushes are causing the issue - they're not tragic but not great either.
Appreciate your thoughts 82911 (and all other responses) - they got me thinking! Got a wheel alignment done today and asked that very question - was told that current aftermarket rubber bushes differ to factory items, in that they CAN be tightened in the hanging possition (in the same way as Nolathane) as they are not bonded on each side.
Regardless, it appears that all is good at the moment, the inspection today got a thumbs up so I'm happy.

Thanks
H

It is my understanding that the steel tube in the centre of the rubber bush is vulcanised to the rubber and can not rotate. If you can push the steel tube out of the rubber bush then you could tighten the suspension in any position. If the steel tube will not budge then it should be tightened at normal ride height. I would expect the rubber to wear out prematurely if the steel tube was able to rotate.

With rubber bushes, make sure you get all the weight of the car on them at ride height BEFORE you tighten them up.This is because the rubber bushes are bonded to BOTH the crush tube anfd the outer shell of the bush. They pivot by putting a twist in the rubber.
This is not necessary with urethane bushings as the crush tube pivots inside the urethane bush.
It looks to me like the bushes were torqued up with the suspension at full droop (on a hoist)
As for welding.... Just a tack or 3 ok!

Cheers Greg..

That is only correct with the cheap version of rubber bushes; the correct way to make the bush is to mould the rubber part over size the press the three pieces together so that they are not actually bonded this makes them a bit harder to make than the fully moulded ones but they work much better.

Les,
what grade of rubber has the abrasion resistance to be made in this way?
It is my understanding that only the poly-linked elastomers and the delrin-plastinylons can be made this way? Both must be lubricated.
Perhaps there is a rubber compound avaliable that has enough abrasion resistance that the inner crush sleeve can be made to pivot and not wear out the rubber prematurely?
Would really like to hear about the compound..
Every OEM rubber bush I have ever seen is vulanised to the outer shell and the crush tube.

Cheers Greg

Greg
I do not know the compound and I am sure the Manufacturer would not tell me if I asked ,I do know that two of the most important specs are the tear strength and the duro.I do not know if you have every dismantled a bush as I have when getting a quote for manufacture. This morning I purchased a 2805510 bush from a Holden dealer and had it cut up to prove my point (pictures attached) if you care to do the same you find that the bushes are in fact pressed together and not moulded.

Is it possible to rotate the crush tube once the bush has been pressed together? Is the crush tube lubricated?

If my memory is correct, rear leaf eye bushes are manufactured the same, so FX maybe?

Probably not as I doubt that you could apply enough force to move it. The rubber will rotate around the crush tube once fitted to the car. The serrated edge on the crush tube is designed to stop it from rotating once fitted. There is no lubricant used as far as I am aware.
