Rodomo,
Have a 202 out of an LJ in the garage its yours for taking (cept for the sump) if you are interested send me PM.
Engine number is QL561XXX
It was running reasonably well when taken out of the car.
That's right on the cusp from HQ into HJ. I have a HQ Sandman recorded that was built into HJ production and it had Qx571xxx. Very early HJ were in the Qx56xxxx but my guess is that's from a late 8/74 or early 9/74 HQ.

Was it a JL or something else?

has it got solids?
Nope. Hydraulic. 3 or 4 lobes absolutely frooted and lifters concaved.
No more markings found but I measured the base circle at 1.1" and the lobes at 1.365" which gives .265" lift.
Also, the headgasket was fitted backwards.
This motor has done very little work. No lip, hone marks still very evident and clean as a whistle inside (check rockers pic)

Rodomo,

Picked up Friday night, stripped to a short Saturday night.
I am the proud owner of a steel welch plugged, fibre timing geared STANDARD BORE(3.625") 202
Sludged up that much that the pushrods lifted off with the head.
I took the head off with the pushrods still fitted as I couldn't find the rocker bolts amongst the sludge!
Gotta luv red motors, can't kill em'!
Watch my e-bay listings for a 4 litres of original Torana sump oil! (Rare! Bathurst! XU-1! A9X! Brock!)
Thanks again to VitcLJ.
I'll pop round this week with sump thing "special" from the bottle shop.
