Looks absolutely spectacular mate! Just read the whole forum and can't imagine how excited you must be after years of saving and waiting. Love the colour. Gonna paint my LH in Tuxedo black aswell. Great job!

Looking good mate! i would just do as 2wild4u advised and fit the lowered springs after you've done the RWC.

Yeah it seems like the thing to do, but im tipping it would be cheaper to get them done while i get the alignment/shims done. Theres no way im putting in front springs again, was a b@stard of a job, ill be paying somebody else .

i think im going to write a book, it will be called "rebuilding toranas for dummies" (me being the dummy). Today i had to pull my motor out AGAIN. I had forgotton that when you first pull your motor out, its only then you can remove your extractors, so after picking up my newly (is this a word?) ceramic coated extractors on friday, I had fully intended to install them today. Thats when i realized that i was a complete moron and that i had forgotton that its impossible to get them in once the motor is in. It was a very testing day for me which i belive i invented several new swear words. Anyways they are in place now, im not sure how we did it (got the missus to work the crane for me) but they are in. The right hand size is the worst as the clutch cable bracket is in the way and there is bugger all room. The extractors now have some lovely scratches in them as does the firewall, but you know what I dont friggin care as they are in , and hopefully thats the last time i have to pull the b@stard out. I also have a lovely deep stab mark in my forearm where i buried a very sharp knife in it trying to cut a cable tie.
All in all a very productive day.

You're not the first, and you won't be the last! Looking good mate, not far to go now. Especially compared to mine. :-). I'd be interested in that book for dummies too...

Just repainted a brown console to match my interior. Its come up fantastic but much of the credit must go to an article I found on the web. Gave me some great tips. Ive posted it in a new topic under the interiors forum. If your going to paint plastics, give it a read, its bloody useful.

Wow, thought my thread was going to be long forgotten by now.
There is good news and bad news.....
Good news..the car as it stands is pretty much finished bar the wiring, new uni,s on the tailshaft, front seats and exhaust.
The bad news (for the car) ive been offered a 3+ year stint overseas by the company I work for. The family and I , pack up and have to be over there by August for the start of the new school year.
My arms hurt like bugger for all the bloody injections we had to have. At least i cant catch rabies now.
So, it looks like the car is going to have to go into storage for another few years.
It is a disappointment as I would have loved to get it out on the road, attend a few shows and meet some of the fine people that helped me immensely thru my build. I just dont have the time now to get it done.
I even briefly had a debate with myself wether to put it up for sale, but that didnt last long.
Even if the market was strong for this car, which i dont believe it is, I dont think I could part with it. There are some beautiful members cars out there that dont seem to be selling, the market seems quite bad, even for the original "muscle car" model.
Big thanks to all that helped me with advice, and all the complimentary comments that ive had in this thread. All of you have inspired me greatly.
I will hopefully still be around the forum whilst overseas, keeping an eye on all the great builds that regularly appear.
Best forum on the net!

Bugger! For you and those of us following this. Still it won't rust away while you're gone! You can store it mine if you want and I will pretend it's mine. :-)

Good luck O/S and don't sell it, the GFC ain't over yet...

Bummer. I was looking forward to seeing the car finished. Hope you enjoy your stint overseas. Glad you are not selling the beast.

Over there I will be the "master" and will have plenty of "grasshoppers" to teach the westernized ways to.
I will teach them the ancient art of "wax on- wax off" and I will have a very shiny car. Too bad my company wont actually let me drive over there. Saying that, im not sure if i want to. They are all f@cken crazy! I get my own driver so it might not be too bad, I will have to just learn to close my eyes a lot

As for censorship, most sites aernt blocked unless they deem them to be getting out messages that they dont want getting out, such as utube, facebook and such, or porn sites(dammit). Cant see them blocking this site, think they might be puzzled what this site is actually about...

Attached File  crop1.JPG   45.96K   2 downloadsG,day All. Its been a long time since I last posted (5+ years). For those that might remember this build........Good news is that my car is nearly ready for rego. Upon returning from overseas (where I have been for the last 5 years) I decided that i just didnt have the time, patience and probably know how, to properly finish this build. So Ive taken it to a very good mechanic, whom Ive known for a long time. Hes not far from having it ready to go..... Will only include the one, slightly fuzzy pic, for now. AND its got some nice shiny new shoes. What the hell , i may as well get it looking like Ive always wanted.

So, Im told in about two weeks it should be ready to come home. Ive sat in it, started it but not driven this car in 20 years. Should be pretty special.

Plenty of pics will come once its securely home. Hope to meet some of you in the future as Im putting in membership for the Victorian Torana club.

DrFegg.
