I know your stirring about the NOS.. I guess we're building a bottom end that's capable of anything.. but the budget will NOT reach to any more power for a LONG time to come!
Cheers!

I blame no one but myself for this mess... and that really is what it came down to. "Ahh she'll be right... Besides.. I like the gear drive noise anyway..."
Pffft.. the noise from one of them isnt worth six and a half grand.... ( yep.. i wrote it that way to emphasise to myself what a dickhead i am....)
Anyway.. Onward and upward... if i dont see mid 11s now i'll be PISSED!
Cheers

Liam: Hope so man! if not... See ^
Denis: We're going to check the pressures of the valve springs when we;ve finalised the cam to make sure they'll be 100%, but yeah if theyre dodgey then they'll get the flick.. ive gone this far.. what's another couple of hundred!
Cheers guys!

Just don't do what I did when I finally got mine sorted.
Sorry Tiny but i have to laugh when I see the what satrted as a $1000 rebuild has turned into this.
I went through that on more than one occasion. First it was the red motor upgrades, than the 9inch diff replacement with another 9inch diff, than the new replacement motor, than the rebuild of the top half of the new replacement motor due to some one who is now an ex friend not doingit right and tahn finally the new ignition system and rewire. All those things blew the budget once work started.

Yeah.. If traction is my biggest concern i'll be a happy man.. cause i always know that more rubber.. better rubber and some suspension tweaks can fix that.. But yeah I'm relaly looking forward to cracking into those 11s.. I hope that it wont be too much of a handfull to drive on the road! I guess it all comes down to my right foot

Toddles: I hope so

Chopper: Agaain i hope that this combo will be packing more Horsies, Its just a shame that i never got to test the maximum potential of the last engine with the diff change!
I'm quietly confident that i'll break into those 11s with this new combo!
Cheers - Oh.. and laugh away Hatchman.. I know i'm not on my own in the
HMAS blown budget!

It looks like my optimism has paid off.
I picked up the monaro from Eze-10s performance the week before last and i simply cannot say enough good about mark and terry, and the way that they conduct their business.
I went out there on the tuesday afternoon ( 1/2 day work due to weather!! YAY!). Mark and i spent 4 hours tuning the car using his lambda meter to get the fuel mixtures spot on and then did what we had to do with the dizzy to get it to stop pinging!
We didnt have the time to get the dizzy re-graphed, or to change convertor, so we had to pull ALOT of timing out of the engine to stop it from pinging, and we found that the convertor that i had is WAY too small for the new engine, causing the engine to bog down at low revs and stall!
So we're running extremely retarded ( nothing new for me

BUT! I picked the car up on thrusday night.. took simmo for a drive before she left for perth.. and then friday night drove it almost 3 hours south of sydney to Nowra ( culburra) to do my mates wedding that weekend!
THe car performed ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESSLY, starting first go, running without getting hot, idling fine etc etc. You could not ask for a better trip!
AND the best news is i believe that the engine is EASILY as powerful now.. as the old engine ever was!
So when we get home my to do list is as follows:
Replace shifter - Mr gasket is playing up so throwing in a B&M pro ratchet
Get dizzy re-graphed to suit the new engine combo
Price and order a new Convertor to suit the combo (Probably a TCE i think!).
Then get out there and RACE THE BASTARD!!!!
Soon after i'll be installing the new dash with the autometer guages and new stereo i bought LAST Xmas and then i'll be pretty happy for a while!
Theres no new pics.. nothing looks different ( appart from my bank balance) but hopefully there should be some video and stills from the wedding!
Cheers!

Hey Tiny... she's a fat lady.. omg.. my torrie weighs 1280Kg (Oran Park scales) ... is that normal for a HQ ?

My plans for it are: fit the dash/stereo myself and repair a rust hole in the plenunm to stop the water leaks.. Then get the new carpet/upholstery/door trims etc etc.
LXChev366: They're a heavy car, I think their kerb weight off the rego papers was about 1420Kgs.. I'm running a mild steel 1/2 cage, mammoth odessey battery ( nearly 30Kgs there!!) 120L drop tank ( 1/2 full at that weigh in), cast iron heads, 9" diff etc etc etc.
It's certainly built for comfort not speed

But no seriously, weight reduction has not been part of the agenda for the car.. it's just had to have what it's needed! I'm no lightweight either and the way i overcome this issue on the 1/4 mile is MORE GRUNT!
Cheers guys!
