Another dumb question, are the k frames the same and is it just the spring rate and shocks the are different from the 6 and 8's.
And by the way it is a very nice car and you wouldn't pick it for a Sunbird if it didn't have it on the rego sticker.
f*ck the knockers it's your car, there just jealous they don't have it or one as good.

I fitted all the SS 5.0 options to my 3300 SL hatch but it's only a SL. Although at one stage it was a perfect replica, it was not as rare or valuable as the real thing. People would get excited because they though they were looking at a rare car and then disappointed to find it's only a SL. One off my friends neighbours always asks "hows the Sunbugie going" just to piss me off.
If you were looking at an A9X hatch valued around $200,000+ and then discovered the tags indicated is was a SS 5.0 worth $50,000+ then I am sure you would say "it's only a SS".
Next time someone says "it's only a Sunbird" you should respond "It's a Sunbugie on steriods".

The Opel fours had different engine mounts, all others are the same (Holden 4, 6, 8) I believe. Springs are different to cater for different weight engines, no idea on shocks but one would assume something similar. The rest is definitely the same.Another dumb question, are the k frames the same and is it just the spring rate and shocks the are different from the 6 and 8's.

The other occasion that comes to mind is if at a car show where judging for authenticity is in the criteria, eg T/fest because many shows dont judge for authenticity at all.
Apart form that and maybe ordering genuine parts (which you cant get now anyway from a dealer) there should be no reason to view the tags, simply put its none of anyones f*cking business
Oh I forgot to mention trim and paint codes may be required.

But, a Sunbird isn't called or plated a Torana
On the plates the LX Sunbird is still called a HOLDEN TORANA SEDAN or COUPE as MRLXSS says. I have the plates from my old one in the shed.

Are you sure the LX Sunbird ADR plate says Torana? I've got heaps of plates collected but I always threw the 4cyl plates away so I don't have any to look at.
When you look closely at Statesmans from some plants they don't mention Holden anywhere (except for General Motor's Holden Pty Ltd), although I have a set of early HQ 350 Statesman plates from Elizabeth that say HOLDEN HQ SEDAN but no mention of Statesman!

Pics of my tags, from lx sunbird. Clearly says torana. at the end of the day its about enjoying your car and yourself. who cares wats anyone else thinks. by the way, nice car rookie.
Excellent. Shows how consistent Holden were with their tags (not). Does that ADR tag definitely belong to the other tags?

Isnt a L16 a 4CYL ?
