View GarageMy first car was an XP Falcon but when my eldest brother rang me from the Northwest and told me of a Mandarin red 308 4 speed van with GTS dash full rooflining loiwered mags etc for $2500 i got a loan.
Man i loved that van forgot to mention the coffin roof rack and chevy dump pipes .
I had to rebuild the engine gearbox and also had heaps of dramas with the electrics but once sorted i drove it hard for 5 years without an ounce of trouble.
Nothing used to beat cruiseing in summer with the tailgate open and AC/DC pumping tunes with the bark of the great 308.
Sadly all good things come to an end this photo is the day it left my hands the body had rusted out completely hard to see in photo but bottom of doors were gone the drain seam along roof was holed out in several places .The sills were totally shot but i managed to fit a set of stato stainless sills to cover holes.
I wrecked the car and sold 308 for$500 LSD $250 M21 $400 GTS Dash for $200 mags for a coupla hundred and found a guy who was doing a van up that just wanted a registered shell sold for a coupla hundred.
They were great times and i wish i had a dollar for every time it saved my licence after a big night out just climb in the back and go to sleep ah the good old days
