havnt been on for a while, but i am still here...and guess what ive lashed out and bought ....
Decided to get me one of these......
For those who dont know, its a toyota SC-14 supercharger..its going on my 202 blow through setup into my gas research carby, hopefully it should be a fun little setup, std bottom end so i plan to run round 6 pound. I have a mates T4 turbo which i was gona use instead but soo much hasstle in finding manifolds that didnt exist and lots of fluffing round, this should be fun, easy to install and sound hella cool!
**QUESTIONS
*if anyone knows what those little vaccum? nipples are on the blower please let me know, do i need them?
*Do i need to 'setup' my gas research carby for forced induction? If so whats involved?
*What kind of oil should i put in it? And how do i know how much? Is it like filling a gbox with oil?
*If anyone actually has the CRS brackets that they are willing to sell please PM me. (I may end up buying them soon though)
It came with a clutched 11A V belt pulley which prev owner had had made up which is VERY handy. All i need now is CRS mounting brackets, EA falcon power steering pump pulley to use as the idler pulley and then intake piping. and at the end of it all a dyno tune to get it running sweet.
Will keep you guys posted, with a bit of luck this should all be happening in the next few weeks
Cheers,
Brad.
**ohh yea and if there is another unofficial drag day this year ill go, spewin i missed this years, but came up at a bad time and just couldnt make it unfortunately.

Have bought the appropriate belt, and the brackets are on their way, at 1/2 cost of what CRS were going to charge me .
QUESTIONS:
Does anyone know what oil to put in these things?? Thought id better check it and add where necessary. I have been told to go OEM ie. Toyota or Holden, they will have s/c oil, i have part numbers somewhere. But i've also heard of people using castrol synthtic g/box oil! Which would be much cheaper!! Anyone know?
Also anyone know if anything needs to be done to the gas research carbies to get them 'set up' for forced induction? Aparently they work quite well with an application like this but aparently they need some modification for forced induction.
Cheers
Brad.

One guy, Bart who I should see tomorrow has one on an old pushrod Datsun 1200 running a 1500 or 1600 motor with a Holley that pushes it to 15 second quarters.
If you want I will ask some questions or you can visit the oldschool forum and search as theres bound to be a huge number of threads about these.

part number 12345982
Its a 120ml bottle from memory, was 30-50 dollars.
The SC12s hold about 150ml of oil, so Im sure the SC14 will hold more, so buy 2 bottles.
Toyota do a S/C oil too (basically the same as holdens) part# is 08885-80108
But it is heaps more expensive, so go with the holden stuff.
Or you can use aircon compressor oil, lots of people run it with no issues.
How much did you pay for your sc14? I have a full CRS kit with a half working charger to get rid of sometime soon.

orangeLJ,
SC-14 was $395 with clutched 11A pulley included. Picked up a full kit minus charger for $500 new. Its not CRS, but it will work all the same.
CRS wanted $900 JUST for the upper and lower brackets, no idler pulley.

Any info on where you got your bracket setup would be great...
Chris, when you go to sell your setup, send me a PM. Might be interested,
Judd.

Ahh so there is 3 vaccum lines on the blower...would it be right to connect them all up to the intake manifold vaccum line? ie. Run a vacc hose to the blower, then run a multi T adaptor thing and connect all the lines up to that?
Pulled out my ameter guage today cos i was having issues with it so removed it completely, but while i was there i did some wire management and tidied up all of the rats nest wiring that was uner my bonnet, i think its looking pretty acceptable now

This bloke I used to work with had a lime green and white EH with one of those SC14 chargers on a 202, apparently it went alright.
Good luck, post plenty of pics!

I went to my local bursons today and got vac lines and some T piece bits to connect all the vac lines to the manifold, will do the trick. got my switch to mount in the dash...ohh and
*whispering*...'my boost guage arived'...
Only thing im a little worried about is i have a yella terra head on it that was mildly surfaced to improve performance on gas, its a high comp head but i think its at about very roughly ~9:1 comp, at the
moment i only plan to run 4-6psi anyway as its my daily, hoping after i have it tuned she shound be apples and nothing blows up.
the pulley on there looks like it will make 4-5pound, the kit comes with a 7pound pulley + crank pulley will stick with the one on there for now.
been done before, ive heard of poeple running higher boost than that on a std red

i run one on a vr v6 in my vb stockcar.....started with a 3.5 psi pulley and now have a 10 psi pulley on it....for a daily driver i would suggest ya stick with a clutched pulley setup because they dont seem to like idling with sc engaged...i think ya can go to about 6-7 psi and still have a clutched pulley so ya can switch it off....just remember not to engage the sc over 2500 revs or ya will burn the clutch out......disengaging at higher revs is fine thowow...ok well thats put me back in my seat....should be ok then.

Keen to see some pics!
It just got me thinking, even up until recently the norm was to drop compression and raise boost but these days fuels and tuning are that good that dropping the CR isn't really needed.

Yea ive gotta make a note of not engaging it over 2500, good idea. It will only every be off if im next to the boys in blue.
ok now heres the part that some here may not agree on...
I was thinking about it at work and was talking to the guys there and i had thought of the possibility that i may need a blow off valve. Before you flame me let me explain why,
I thought that...as i engine brake alot, when doing so, your engine speed pops back up to 2500-3000RPM, yet the throttle body would be closed. While the engine is still spinning moderately, so is the blower, feeding air into the pipe that has no where to go as the throttle body is closed. Thought that this may damage rotors/pop off hoses etc.
Now im not trying to get 'the sound' by any means, and i think a boost controller is overkill for this sort of thing, i just want it to protect my blower and intake. I dont think that i would have a problem with it bogging down either because as soon as you put your foot down again the blower is spinning.
Seen a few setups done like this, what do you guys think? Personally i see it as more of an 'ass cover' thing for my intake rather than wank factor, id plan to have it hidden under the pipe.
Cheers,
Brad

Yeh i got a Greddy RS...can be setup as plumb back and vented to atmosphere, just gotta change the end. Now my understanding is that with plumb back, the oulet is routed to the intake (non pressurised) side of the blower?
brackets getting sent hopefully wednesday arvo so with a bit of luck will have them by the end of the week

I don't have one on my turbo 202, dont really know why because it's not really good for the turbo. Still sounds like it does have one though!

long time since last post but i havnt had a working computer in a while!! They all either exploded or refused to boot ...anyway all my new photos are on my comp so no pics atm but I have the brackets and have trial fit it into the bay....
let me just say a tight fit...when i post pics you will be able to see that the inlet manifold on the blower fouls on the side of the bay...i will need to try n roll the engine bay lip down so that it will clear.
I also fitted the 7psi pulley (1:2) which will run an extra pulley on the crank and separate belt, because if i was to run a single belt on the clutched pulley, it rubs on the bottom radiator hose.
While on the subject, when the blower is mounted, it presses into the bottom radiator hose, so i intend to get a flexible non molded hose and go fix that too.
We secured the blower to the bottom mount (acts as the block off plate for fuel pump n uses the bolts) and hooked up the pulley, and with no piping on the blower, started the 202 to see what it sounds like.....MY WORD....its daaaamn loud!! Sounded like a whipper snipper on the bottle . Also got my blow off valve too, its a Greddy RS, will be getting a plumb back adaptor for it too so that i am free to run it vented to atmosphere and also legal.
Look forward to posting pics up,

here are the picks ive been wanting to upload!
The New pulley that came with the kit that ive bolted on
Just a pic of it sitting in not bolted up
Here is my problem, the Inlet flange on the blower fouls against the side of the bay!
So then the top mount doesnt line up...
see...!
So as you can see ive Bolted on the 2:1 pulley....which aparently makes about 7psi, i intend to try and set the BOV quite soft so that it doesnt quite reach 7psi, i tend to think its a bit much for standard red motor bottom end. I needed to bolt on this pulley as the setup cannot all be run with 1 belt, if you try and run 1 belt, the belt fouls against the bottom radiator hose where the blower is and so running 2 belts, the blower belt is moved away from the hose and it all clears, and it just seems more reliable this way.
As you can also see the flange on the blower fouls against the side of the bay, which stops the top mount from lining up, i actually fixed this today, i thought it wouldn't be wise to cut and fold that area in particular so i borrowed my mates big mallot and rolled the lip until it clears, and it seems to now so when i bolt it in ill take some more picks. I will still need to fix the problem where blower jabs into the bottom radiator hose, i need to get a 39mm int dia flexible hose that i can go around the blower with, or there is one thats semi flexible but has a wire inside to stop it from sucking in, which i might be able to make it work.
...anyway ive gotta drop the coolant to do all this so when i get a chance next ill get more picks up
Cheers,
Brad.
