Very nice mate.

Always handy being able to do these sorts of things yourself. My welding skills are all but a thing of the past these days :-(

Dragged all the pipework down to the sandblasters today and got him to clean it all up. Brought it all home and gave it a few light coats of metallic black BBQ and Stove paint. Came up nice....

Had it sitting out in the sun all afternoon and will give it a few days before fitting it up.

Also got the windscreens in today. I wanted something a bit different and modern looking. I saw Studricho's front screen install at the Drag Day and spoke to his windscreen fitter about how to go about it. Then had to find someone locally who was keen to have a go. This took some time as most just want to fit a screen and take off. Ended up with Graham from A Class Windscreens and we worked it out.

The screen has a universal moulding glued onto it first then is painted with a urethane primer (the black stuff around the edges, looks like paint) before being urethaned in place. This gives a smaller rubber profile that looks a little better and more streamlined. Nothing like the bulky rubber.

Tape is there to hold it in place while the urethane goes off, will probably take it off tomorrow.

Can't take all the credit !! Raff at Fyshwick Exhaust did all the cutting and TIG welds. I just made up the extensions.

Look good but will pipes be on the ground when you have 2 popped tyres ?

No chance ! The exhaust sits higher than the rear floor pans. It only just sits below the chassis rails/extensions. I'll get a pic when its all back together and run a string line. Clearance was one of my priorities, not keen on setting alight to the grass as I drive off !

looking good mate pipework looks awsome

Thanks !

Still chipping away at this......

The engine is now running in the car and it starts, stops and drives (up and down the driveway anyway !).

Yesterday I managed to clean up the headlights and indicators and fit the front apron, its starting to look like a car again. I ripped the orange lens out of the indicators and fitted the orange globes to give it a more modern sort of look. Also trial fitted a brand new UC grille.

I disagree, it still looks like a UC. Cars look completely different.

Have been busy the last couple of weeks. Spent some quality time with my painter/beater and the sandblaster.
Repaired my old bootlid which did have a couple of lows that I had to fill. Then removed all the moulding clip studs on the doors for a cleaner look. Also welded up the interior door lock snipper holes as I won't be needing locks. Got the rear doors fairly straight then got my mate to file finish them off (only had parking dents). Both rear doors now have zero filler in them ! Also had a go at the fibreglass bumpers and bonnet scoop and tidied them up. Got some paint on them all yesterday and bought them home.

Hope to get some black paint on the inside of the bumpers and scoop during the week and start hanging the back doors and boot lid.

Quick question...... my door handles are a bit average so I have decided to paint them, painter reckons gloss black but I would prefer body colour. What do you guys think ??

Prefer black handles rather than have them body colour.
