I managed to get the car down to a mates workshop to do a wheel alignment on Monday. Kit at GenTech measured it up and let me know what shims to fit/swap/remove then he would remeasure it. It wasn't too bad but we tweaked it to a bit less than a full degree negative camber both sides, three degrees positive caster both sides and three mm toe in. I took the opportunity to have a quick blast down the street and back to make sure everything was in order before putting it back on the trailer and taking it home. The extra caster made the steering require a bit more effort but should increase the high speed stability.

Due to the Nitro Champs being on the weekend and the days since being warm and dry I figured the track at WSID would be perfect for a marginal street car. I bit the bullet and dragged the beast up to the track last night. I really wanted to do a couple of half track passes to see how the car felt and make sure it was all good (the 200m drive outside the wheel alignment shop was to this point the furthest the car had moved under its own power since being put back together). Unfortunately everyone in Sydney had the same idea and they reached the 250 competitor cutoff quite early. I hung back a bit hoping for the track to warm up a bit before going out but there were quite a few oildowns and delays. I got to the start line and decided to just see how it would go. It hooked up off the line and left well, straight as an arrow. I kept into it to the shift point (6800rpm) then pulled top. All seemed to be going fine so I stayed into it for a full pass. Just as well as it turned out to be my only pass of the night !

I'll give you a day or 2 to post your best estimate of what it ran while I wait for the track photographers to get pics up !

Bear in mind this pass was on pump fuel (BP Ultimate) with a splash of Nulon octane booster, exhaust with resonators, radial tyres and not stalling the engine up (just idling and mashing the pedal on the last amber - no transbrake here !).

Still no pics on the WSID page.

You guys are definately conservative !

I honestly expected the car to run a high ten first pass out and give me something to work with, if I had to guess I would have said LJ355 was on the money.

Suffice to say I was pleasantly surprised, thats me in the Right lane.....

The reason I only got one pass was the fact I didn't have the appropriate license or tech inspection. I have since had the car tech inspected and have booked in to get a medical next week. I guess it will take a few weeks to get all the paperwork processed then I'll get back out there !

Thought instantly it ran a high 10 when reading that you only got in one pass...that's just too close to a 9sec run.Animal!

Thanks guys !

No-one is more surprised than me, I never expected it to run this quick, even with 6 months of tuning ! A lot of things did go my way on Wed. night. It was cold, still and the air was good. The track was super grippy (saw numerous diff and tailshaft explosions !) and it may be a while until the conditions are the same or better. I wouldn't be surprised if it slows up a bit before it picks up.

The first obvious change is some more timing. I was concerned about detonation and only ran it with 34 degrees. I'll have to poke around and find some AVGAS or similar and crank a few more degrees into it.

Rest assured if it does end up running a nine I will be over the moon !
