I have refitted the 400 and got the car running again recently.
I'm still keen to pursue the blown combination and would have to make some changes to the car to accommodate it, namely some bigger tubs, revised rear suspension and roll cage changes.
I am a little reluctant to start hacking into the car as it is a great low 10 sec, high 9 sec car. Ultimately if I could sell the N/A 400 engine to help pay for upgrades then I would go ahead. When I started this build I envisioned the car running mid 10's, unfortunately its evolution has been faster than I expected !
I have offered the car for sale as it is, a super clean and tidy reliable low 10 sec car. If it doesn't sell for the price I want I guess I will get the grinder out and change the rear of the car to allow safe low 9 or high 8 sec passes. I am not about to jam a 1000hp engine into a car with a 650hp capability,
As anyone who has read through this thread would know, a lot of work has gone into this car and I honestly think anyone who intends to buy it is getting a bargain. I will leave it out there for a month or 2, if it doesn't sell I'll look into the next stage of its evolution.
Hope that explains the sale.

Time for an update !....
I was fairly close to swapping the car for another with a gentleman in Queensland but when it came down to it I just couldn't wave goodbye to it ! No-one wanted to offer any cash, in fact I didn't have one serious call for outright purchase (must be the UC front !). I did however have a good offer on the 600HP 406 SBC so it has been removed, paid for and picked up.
Looks like I'm keeping the car.
Plans now are to move the radiator forward a little to accommodate a belt driven fuel pump and to build a small front mounted fuel header tank to feed the pump. I will rebuild the stock block combo with a couple of changes and get it going again before making any more hasty decisions.

Turns out the gentleman from Queensland came up with enough cash to convince me to part with the car as a roller, no engine, gearbox, fuel pump or wheels.
I delivered the car to its new home late last week and waved goodbye.
Queenslanders keep an eye out for it wearing Convo-pros and a 383 !

Hey mate, Awesome thread, I'm just in the process of mini tubing my LX torana, on page 2 you had some photos up of when you did the mods to your rails, they don't seem to be loading up anymore just seeing ifs its possible if you could re post them at all? Cheers.

I guess a general update is in order......
I have a HZ tonner cab and a couple of chassis', not sure where that will end up !
The blown 350 has been reassembled with some head work and a real intake. I hope to have it on the engine dyno in a couple of weeks for its new owner. It will be going into an HK ute.
It looks like I will be moving home shortly and as such won't be doing too much in the near future until settled into a new (hopefully larger) workshop !

A big thanks to SLR Goat for bringing the car to my attention.....
Seems a racer has picked it up sometime last year and has spent a few months putting a twin turbo LSx in it.
It was spotted at Willowbank Raceway recently running faster than when I had it !
