SUMMARY

besides the banter and frequent abuse, a common pattern appears in this and simular type threads.

1. if you have an L34 you love them
2. if you had an L34 you want it back
3. if you have another type of torana you would trade it for an L34

4. and if you are not one of the above three - there is something wrong with you.

debate over......

Now where did I put my medicine? :tease:

It is good to see you L34 boys blowing your own trumpet for a change. I believe part of the reason the A9X has a higher market value is they have been well organised and effective in communicating their story. Maybe start your own club? The challenge for you guys is to present as much info on the cars as you can to the general public and group together to promote a common interest. There is clearly difficulties in the number of cars produced and the demographics of owners but a lot could be achieved through the web these days. Perhaps the Phillip Island get together was a step in the right direction?

I think you are spot on toranavista.

It would be a very positive thing if a L34 National Club got off the ground.

How about it "never in control"?

YOU CAN DO IT!

Toranavista, i agree totally with your statement and Phillip island was a good indication that L34 owners are keen to participate.

Hi,all the above points are all valid. This debate started by uninformed people putting down the supeior power of the L34.I have just spent the last 2 hrs showing my cars to a guy who is flying interstate tommorrow to look at buying a l34 and a9x.His dad owned several gmh dealerships around australia.
He sold his last torana 79 and now wants a collection. He remembers delivering these vehicles new.Performance wise he states they were not in the same league.
he did not get his info from books but from the response he got from the pedal.
I think this debate has probably run its course before poor red thinks everybody hates him. He,s a great guy very passinate about a9xs which is good as hes always flying the a9x flag.Hope he still talks to me next time we meet.We have the right in this country still to believe want we want to yet,i will will always love my l34s first.Must go now and clean my a9x for tommorrows run.Keep smilling. :spoton:

I am yet to give an opinion here as I am "un-informed", mind if I come and do the above so I can make my own mind up ?

Im about to sigh of on this thred. If there is anyone out there thats in the market for a a9x i strongly recoment REDA9X to view the car b4 perchace. His knowledge on the a9x is as good as you will get anywhere. You have to own a l34 to fully understand how complex the car is. The two cars a different as the comments have told us. This has been a great debate we have all had some fun dont take life to serious RED lets injoy the cars and the people asociated with them. becuase we are only the care tackers someone else will own our cars one day. injoy life.

Just read the thread from start to finish.

I would own both cars any day, no questions asked.

But how quickly the thread turns to shit over ones inturpretation of comments.

Is there ever going to be a clear cut answer, as to what was better. L34 or A9X ?

Its like debating who was the best heavy weight boxer "ALI or TYSON"

Leave it at that, more Jim Beams to drink.

I don't have an SLR, A9X or a L34 and I wouldn't trade mine for one, I couldn't care less about their heritage or $value. I built my car to go, doesn't handle the best or look the best and it used to be a 4 cylinder, but it is what I want - not a dust collector. Give it up people because at the end of the day none of them go or handle any good standard, a shitty old VN SS would out drive one on the race track! They are all just a Torana with the smallest of modifications that aren't really worth talking about! Too harsh? Thats my opinion!

And yes I still love them. :spoton:

I think you younger guys should listen sometimes to the older guys that were amongst it when the cars were new, all those Torana books you eat dont necessarily make you a guru, its all theoretical unless youve had the opportunity to experienced it.

This standard Chrome Yellow SL/R 5000 beside the standard Azure Blue L34 and the standard Barbados Green SL/R 5000 in the back ground of the last photo could not outperform the Standard L34 no matter how hard they tried. And were not talking about one off here, it just never happen.

Im sorry but I dont have the motivation for a pissing contest, Ive said my piece I was there, had them all and loved them all .............regards
