So one's been silly with the grinder/welder, lol.

Engrossed in welding rear window sill + leaving highly flamable rear seat underlay in = fire.

Sadly, a seat belt was slighly melted in the event, but that was the only real damage. Car and paint were completly unscaithed.

Anyways, no more rust in the rear window sill, and a healthy coat of POR15. Just gotta get some glass adhesion paint and the rear glass is ready to to uri'ed in.

Rust sections in the boot next.

For some crazy reason, someones idea of fixing the horn relay was to cut the horn wire near the horn, run a new wire into the the car, bypass the fuse and hardwire the horn to a toggle switch they drilled into the dash.
Stupid... the long way around.

Same guy must have got to my UC, but at least he put a pretty red push button into the dash :banghead:

And the current owner hasn't fixed it yet

There must be a thing for red horn switches.
At least yours is a button, this was a toggle switch... on or off.
How did you go getting roady with a button on the dash?

Woo Hoo! after removing the carpet today I'm now $2.64 up on this project.
You know your car is a classic when you find 1 and 2 cent pieces under the seats.

Found a few bits that are broken or missing (though if its missing ie not there, how could i find it... hmmm)
Rusty LH rear gutter extention than runs down the "C" pilla
Drivers seat inner hinge cover.
Melted LH rear seat belt... oops.
Steering rack boots.

So i'm off to some wrecker and Bursons tomoz.

Engine should be here on Friday so if all goes to plan, it should be moving by Monday... time for a 28 day permit.

It seems I may have some parts for the Sunrana already. I bought a set of A.M front seat belts for my Datsun 1000 wagon, but i have sold it so they never went in. It appears they are the saem spec and the Sunranas front seat belts so I may have some brand skankin new seat belts for it... just gotta find them.

Was going to buy a 67 Mustang (SOULY FOR INVESTMENT PURPOSES!) and needed the space. the stang fall through. I still needed the space though as i hate leaving my real VK out in the weather plus i have too many projects already.

Don't worry, the VB10 went to a great new home, the guy is a thorough restorer. I had to turn down numerous offers from people wanting to molest it with a V8.

Umm, seller got a roady on the car three weeks before I bought it and I used that roadworthy. There were a lot of defects listed, but the horn wasn't one of them - I think it's just got to be easily accessible. Having said that, it passed roady with a belt holding the box to the crossmember, triple SUs (ADR 27A ???) wheels that rub the guards, and a three inch ground clearance, so I don't think the horn was a major concern :P

Of corse... Ballarat... as long as it has 4 wheels and a place to put a pig, its road worthy.
Good to see there are still places were they aren't completleyu anal about roadies. I reg my car out there, maybe I should roady it there too.

:spoton:

Uri'ed it the rear windscreen in this morning. It was like a baby eating spaghetti with its hands... a whole lot a mess. I reckon i got most of it on everything BUT the here it should be... And that shit don't wash off too easy.
Typical, one tube was 2 inchs short of doing the full area.
Once its dry, i'll clean it up and get some pics.
Now I just gotta find a way to trim the edge and make it look crisper. The window isn't quite the same shape as the window jam.

Woo Hoo, thanks to SXCLX, the Sunbird now has an engine... a nice an clean 202.
Due to my ground being quicksand and therefore the engine crane sinking with any weight on it, the engine had to be moved around the yard on my makeshift engine cart.

Looks like a crazy buggy...

Sadly, just as i was getting ready to put the engine in, the rains put an end to it for today.
Hopefully some clear weather tomorrow for a parts scavange and engine install.

Once again a big thanks to the top bloke that is SXCLX!

Will that motor bolt straight onto the 4cyl crossmember? Or do the mounts need to be shifted back?

Everyone has said it should be plug n play so if not i'm screwed.

Being a Torana virgin, i have to believe the advice of sessioned Torana owners.
I hope they know what they're talking about.

Maybe with the Starfire it is fine, but with the Opel, it will not work.

You are right, the mounts didn't line up. The gear box cross member has to be move to the rear most position. Then i need to replace the tail shaft. I've cut the tunel.

I'm just about to pull the box out, then install the 202, then put the box back in... fingers crossed.

I'm thinking some crossmember modification might be in order. Unless you wanna change crossmembers entirely. I have a bare one spare if you need it.

Cheers Heath.

The engine is in and bolted up. The chassis has a second mounting position for the box cross emeber that appears to be for the 6 cylinder set up.
Weather permiting I'll find out tomorrow whether its all copasetic.

Don't bother. The roady got done out Yarra Junction way. I had a heap of grief getting the ute done locally - picky buggers seem to want to keep their licenses around here

will do.

Been too busy trying to get the ******* box in...when the weather permited.
From underneath, in dirt makes it a quite a challenge.
First the extractors were in the way, now it seems the clutch plate may not be alligned 100% as the box falls short of going on completely by 1 inch.

No joy on finding a tailshaft and the wreckers today either.

^ Thats what she said :D

In all my haist in trying to get everything in, I simpley assumed that the spigot bushes were the same size... DOH
The spigot ID is smaller on the 202 than on the starfire.

BUGGER!!!!

OK engine in, box back in, tail shaft on.

Gotta make a trip down to Economy Bolts as I managed to lose a few... such is the joy of work on dirt/sand.

Next is re-wiring and re-hosing the engine bay.

Then, finger crossed, we'll have a runner.

:spoton:

But for now, i'm just going to relax and ride this hang over through.

Its been a little too cold to do much outside by the time I get home.

But I have bought a few little goodies to help revive the car.
Made the battery loom and I've begun making the engine loom.
Got some replacement bolts.
Ordered a new carpet, should be here next week.
Still gotta figure out the hose arrangement, doesn't look right. Help appreciated in this department.

I put all the new engine looms in today and with the remandering sun light, gave the engine a go.
No go.
Time to go over the set up and make sure everything is OK.
I may have an issue with the carby as the engine has been run on gas before I got it... we'll see.

Engine starts and runs like a charm (so far)

:spoton:

Reset the dizzy so the ignition leads would reach the appropriate plugs.
Replaced rotor and dizzy cap which was pretty well fudged.
Reset the timing.
Now i just gotta fine tune the little things.
