I've got a 2.78 ratio 10 bolt to go into my vh, but as it came with 3.36 gears to start I'm attempting to get something more similar to that (3.08, 3.36 or 3.55). I've read that I can swap the diff gears between centres with no trouble, but I've also read that the 2.78 and 2.6 ratio gears had different centres, which means that the 3.x gears aren't able to be bolted on. Is this true? Is there a way to modify the 2.78/.6 centre to take a 3.08 style gear if this is the case?
Cheers
Chris

You heard correctly ie 2.6 and 2.78 hemispheres are different to 3.08- 4.44. So in order to fit 3.08 - 4.44 gears you need another hemishere. Rather than trying mods, there is a mob (in SYDNEY I think) that does a Borg Warner hemisphere and gears conversion into a 10 bolt housing. This would be a better bet as bits are plentiful.

If your interested I have a set of 3.36 gears & matching LSD carrier for sale, the carrier does not have any internals cos I used them to repair another diff in an emergency for a comp car.
The cones & side gears are replaceable new after market.
PM me if your interested,,,, or any one else.
