OH! I thought you did the spray then wipe trick that you do with Hotwires!

Spray the whole wheel black, then a rag of thinners to wipe off the face of each spoke...

When I paint hotwires I used to use fine line tape, but now I just smear a tiny amount of vaseline onto the top of the spokes, do the painty painty thing and then just wipe the tops off with a rag. Tada!! My laziness makes me find the easiest possible way to do anything : ) hahaha

How does it sit now ryan?

I just bought a set of lowered A9X King Springs to put in my car... I know LXCHEV runs the same springs as you just put in.

Hi ryan, you did a great job on the floor pan and plenum. Have you alredy got a drop tank to put in it? It will look sh8 hot. The tail pips will be a bit of a pain but totaly worth it.

Can you use the same X member and tailshaft when fitting a T5? ...or let me put it this way...is there anything you have to modify when fitting a T5 into torana?

You need a different cross member and tailshaft and you will need to modify the floor as the hole will not match up where the gear stick is. (Also depends if the car was originally an auto or a manual, but either way a little bit of cutting and plating to do.) A bit of work but nothing major.
You can get the cross member from Castlemaine Rod Shop and any decent diff place can make up a tailshaft for you once you give them the measurements.
Cheers

What about clutch? Can you still use say an M20 to V8 pressure plate and friction plates? Are their any issues with the length and splines of a T5 input shaft? Reason I ask is I'm considering eventually converting mine to 5 speed too. Just not sure whether to go the T5 route or Supra 5 speed.

Hey Ryan, any idea what sort of cars the T5's you bought came out of? Cos I've heard different t5's vary in strength and do they possibly have different ratio gearsets between boxes?

Sounds like your car is pretty darned close. Can't wait to go for a cruise with ya.

not to sure mick was looking at the rodshop website looks like there is a kit that u can buy to adapt it to standard 4speed bell housing
all i no about them is they are v8 holden t5s
was never really planning on a t5 but i new i needed something got a 3.36 banjo in at the moment and on higway cruising its terrible so when the 9 inch goes in with the 35s its gonna get worsse
1 major problem at the moment i dont have a work bench to pull em down
ddont really wanna do it on the floor

also in regards to the shifter position i no the rod shop do lots of diff forward pattern shifter for other boxes so maybe thats an option

gonna start looking for some 15 inch fatties the 14 inch cragars i got look grouse but cant get tyres bugger than 245 which would be perfect if i didnt have flares

also had the car tuned and man does it go good now no more flat spots i cant wait to take it to heathcote again and see how much its improved
