Well, With the popularity of the Wednesday night Race for Real events, it seems that the GMH-Torana.com.au crew just cant get enough drag racing!

So.. we've decided to host a Private track hire day!

The basic information is set out here:

Date: Sunday 5th July 2009
Venue: WSID drag strip - Ferriers Rd Eastern Creek
Time: Gates open 8:00 am - Scrutineering 8:00-10:00, Driver's Briefing 10:00, Racing starts 10:15am-4:00pm with a lunch break.

COST: $200.00 PER RACE CAR (includes Primary Driver), PLUS $50.00 for 1 PRE ARRANGED secondary driver in that car (Secondary Driver)
Pass entitles you to 2 Pit Crew and 3 Spectators PER CAR



Payments will be accepted by Direct Deposit / Cheque / Money Order only and bank details will be posted here when payment is opened (We are still pending confirmation from WSID of the final availability of the venue.)
ALL PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER.
Payment in full will be required NO LATER THAN 14th JUNE 2009

Below is a list of items from the WSID "at a glance" information brochure.
Please be aware that we will be abiding by all WSID rules and regulations at all times during this event.


Minimum 40 / Maximum 50 Primary Drivers at $200 each
• Primary Driver may bring two (2) crew members and three (3) spectators for that entry fee
• A pre-arranged Second Driver, nominated for a given vehicle, permitted at $50
• Intended for street-registered vehicles only however ANDRA-designated Super Street vehicles are permitted
• No cars with potential to run quicker than 11.000-seconds permitted
• No motorcycles with potential to run quicker than 10.500-seconds
• Drivers must hold a civil driver’s licence as a minimum or be able to prove that they have previously held a civil driver’s licence
• P-plate licences are acceptable
• Learner’s permits are not acceptable
• Bookings must be made at least 21 days in advance
• Entry List must be provided by 3:00pm Wednesday prior to the hire date
• Entry List to include names of all Primary Drivers with any corresponding Second Drivers listed adjacently
• ANDRA-licensed competitors must have their ANDRA licence number listed adjacent to their name
• Final Entry List, should there be any adjustments, must be provided by 3:00pm Friday prior to the hire date
• WSID contracted catering is not available for private track hires
• Drivers must wear long pants, long sleeves, enclosed shoes and an approved helmet (AS/NZS 1698:2006 or equivalent)
• Minimum lap-sash seat belt required
• Motorcyclists must wear a MA-approved jacket and gloves, long pants (preferably leathers), boots that cover the ankles and an approved helmet (AS/NZS 1698:2006 or equivalent)
• Strictly no alcohol permitted within the venue
• Strictly no glass containers permitted within the venue
• Strictly no animals permitted within the venue
• Strictly no fireworks permitted within the venue
• Competitor Gate opens 8:00am
• Registration and Scrutineering from 8:00am – 10:00am
• Compulsory Drivers’ Start Line Briefing at 10:00am
• Racing from 10:15am – 1:00pm
• Lunch break 1:00pm – 1:30pm
• Racing resumes from 1:30pm – 4:00pm
• Pit/Paddock area cleared by 4:30pm
• Venue secured 5:00pm.

There are clauses regarding bad Weather on the day which is a little complex to explain, But suffice it to say if the weather is bad before 10:00am and WSID decides to cancel the event, Or if a portion of the event is run but not all the event, then a refund of monies will be made within 7 days of the event. If it is cancelled after lunch then NO REFUND will be given.
But hey.. let's plan for perfect racing weather!!


I Will be discussing food options with John Henman in the near future, and he will come back to me with confirmation of the day shortly i believe. and when this happens I'll post bank details and start the entry list!

For now let's just start listing names of people who are commited to come, so we can begin to guage how many others we want to, and will invite! Obviously we want as many Torana members as we can get!!

LOL... Haha not likely, he is doing his Tasmania tour later this year, but as if YOU dont wanna race at the best track in Oz surrounded by 40+ Toranas!

I Havent heard from John as yet, I think he's busy as hell sorting out the Nitro Champs coming up first week of May, but we'll still power on aiming for the day to happen as scheduled!
