Funny that, my brake booster packed it during the first pass as well.

The L34 had 13 passes, best was 11.48 @ 117 mph.
Had a few shifter/linkage probs, fixed that and then fried the clutch.
All in all, it was a top day and hats off to Tiny & Simmo for making it happen.

On a sadder note, and after 8 years of pounding the 1/4 mile, I will be retiring the L34 after this meet, its time for a full resto. The party pack is coming out and the original stuff is going back in.

Ive had the time of my life.

Cheers

DD

Thanks to Tiny and Simmo for great day.

DD you cant retire it come on it has a little more in it you can do it......

I had some traction issues, tyres not hot enough.... we ran a PB 11.22 @ 118 mph.

Karlie got some pictures and some video from the stands (dont think it has sound, she was just playing with her camera :) )

some decent video of people launching, but she stopped the camera just after half track for most of them (I asked, she told me she thought she couldnt see them anymore so there was no point in recording more....)

We knicked off about lunch time (my mate that was with us started work at 6pm on saturday night, finished at 6am was at out house by 6.15 and we were on our way to WSID at 6.45, so he was dead by the time we got home just after lunch)

Also, when we got back in the car to leave, Karlie told me next time Im not allowed to wear a flanno..... supposedly it makes me "look like a dero" haha. So appologies for anyone who was put off by the derolict in the flannollette shirt talking to them :P

Great day yesterday, I had a shocker with the Sunbird, couldnt get the Nankangs to grip, but did manage to hook them up on my 3rd run in the morning and peel off an 11.8 @115mph with the Stock as a rock LS2.

The rest were pretty much wasted runs.

Got the Black Monza down to a 13.3 @104mph

Tiny, mate thanks again for a top day.

Well done Lachie, SNAPT looked awesome and with some full slicks will def run 10's.
As for my car, she's had enough. We think its still got a couple of tenths in it but I'm right on the edge.

What a day, what a rush !!

Cheers

Awesome stuff guys!!
I'm just really stoked that you all had fun! That was the ultimate aim of the day!
Once again, without all of who turned up to race, and also to spectate and support the event it simply would not have happened! So you all deserve a pat on the back yourself!

Those photos look awesome! I know WSID is a very hard place to get good pictures, especially during the day, but i know that Jason and Michael, Tracey and Josh all did their best and thanks for being there!

I've got to say a massive thanks to the WSID staff too who helped make the day as enjoyable as it was!
Everyone from John Henman and Sandra M all the way through to the scruitneers, start line officials and of course all the track, EMS/FIRE and security were very helpful and supportive of us all.
They only had good things to say about our group, and i'm sure we will be welcome back again soon!

Oh.. josh was right, i did run an 11.66 - i was soooo tired last night i didnt even find *MY* best time card to share! LOL!

Deedsy: - Mate, I'm glad you guys had fun and i'll be very sad to NOT see this beast at the track again! I Hope your plans for the drag car are all you hope for mate, and i've got to say.. I can understand why you've decided to go this way... there is No Compromise with a full race car!!
All the best to you mate, and no matter what.. you better be at the next meeting!, L34-standard edition, Drag car or stocker!!

I'm looking forward to seeing some video, Out little camera didnt really perform it's best, and i didnt get to watch alot of racing! I was either racing myself, or trying to help simmo out! ( Like she needed it!!)

Thanks again everyone, and see ya on the next one!

Sounds like it was a great day !

I probably would have rather been there than at home welding tubs into my UC between night shifts !

Can't wait til the next one, maybe we could organize an ACT contingent ???

LS1 LX had the unfortunate job of showing everyone how slippery the track was for the first runs!

I puckered my bum a bit seeing you with zero traction, let alone being behind the wheel!

Well done Tiny, Simmo and the Sydney Chapter of GMH-T Drag Day.

I know how much goes in to organising a day like this and from the feedback and photos it looks like all involved had a great day.

Now that Vic, NSW and QLD have all run their drag days, who has the quickest Torana? Has anyone beaten Mals (308nut) 10.125?

There was an 11 second cutoff for the day Tony.

A few cars ran dipped under it while we were there.

Definitely ALOT of cars there that could have run under 11 seconds (some that would have been very low tens if not 9s IMO) Backing off at half track seemed to be the thing to do (and still rolling through for high 11 and 12 second passes!)

Thanks Tiny, spot on. Its pretty simple really: If I want to go faster with this car, I need to butcher it. I wont do that. Its a genuine L34.
A full race car is a different story. Im leaning towards a LH/LX, Big Block on the bottle.
And dont worry, I'll be at the next one ( I might have to convince the missus to throw me the keys to her 66 Mustang ).

Cheers

What an awesome day, credit to Tiny and Simmo for all their work . Good turn out of cars. Thanks to all the photographers as well. After a day like Sunday how could you settle for just three or so runs on a wednesday night street meet.

My day turned into more of a tuning session didn't get a chance to chat too much unfortunately. My engine tuner came along to log the runs. The cold weather combined with a very rich tune fouled a set of plugs quick smart. After a new set of plugs and trimming fuel in each successive run we picked up 15mph by the end of the day to run a best of 12.3 at 120mph. Engine still didn't feel happy. Its still down on its best of 125mph, but with a few more runs and more tuning we would have been close. Its a bonus being able to drive home after the effort at the last drag event.

For anyone interested I have posted a portion of the log from the 120mph run, probably shows I drive like an old lady :D . My excuse is I don't have an ANDRA licence so I didn't want to dip into the 11s and be sent home; yeah yeah I know excuses, excuses :tease: .
