All Fours: About ~10m maybe more, from takeoff to rear wheel landing, was coming down a hill just the bottom I punched it ....... the uphill went something like this:

Very Stiff suspension leads to far easier attempted space travel over soft suspension.

Yeah, I dunno what my top speed is, never seen the needle off the clock in my own car.

And the airborne thing was an accident like I stated.
I went to overtake on an uphill (actually it went downhill first), I misjudged how steep the hill dropped off from uphill to flat and back to uphill again.
I gave it some stick towards the bottom of the downhill in preparation for the uphill since I needed to overtake, I was used to a stock 202, not a worked 308.

It resulted in getting airborne which I didn't expect.
Wasn't impressed when it happened, when everything turned out not-broken and nothing killed I got used to the idea :P
~10m is probably a bit zealous, looking at my garage from here it's 7x8m and I wouldn't have cleared that, so probably more like 5m. Which isn't all that much.

I'd tell you the street, date and time if I knew it all too.

As someone that earns a living attending traffic accidents (amongst other things) I have avoided looking at this thread from its conception. I really don't think bragging about ones top speed on a public road has a place here. I also know that there are at least 2 other forum members (probably more) that have the same career as myself and could tell you numerous stories of youthful exuberence coming unstuck. Guys, learn from your mistakes and move on. There are a lot of young impressionable minds on these forums.

If you want to wind your rig out, go to a track and do so, in safety (as others have no doubt suggested).

I can assure you that attending one fatal accident will change your views on speeding on public roads forever.

Dosent anyone see the funny side of my post? Come on guys cheer up. I beleive struggler is 100% right, accidents arnt a good sight, So please all you young drivers out there, drive safely, Dont go breaking the law too much cause the police will catch up with you and keep their eye out for your car, thats when u end up losing your licence for ages and it F*&#en sux.

Im still pretty young (23) and i lost my licence for drink driving, speeding and a couple of other things at the time, I used to be a bit of a reckless driver not long ago, sideways around every corner, Mass speeding everywhere i went, my speedo used to look like torana amores on many occasions, its not hard to do, But now i realise how dangerous that was to myself and everyone sharing the road with me at the time, imagine having a blowout and losing control at 160+km/h and slamming into a tree, or worse yet, hitting an innocent pedestrian - something i definately dont want in the back of my mind for the rest of my life.

Now for the past 2 1/2 years i have only been pulled over once and i dont speed or drive recklessly anymore, had me fun and was very lucky to never have an accident or ever get hurt. Cars are very dangerous things in life and new drivers just dont realise how easy it is to have a fatal accident, false calculation of a corner and a bit of understeer is all it can take to get on the nightly news and become another statistic.

I have not replied to this thread until now because I didnt think it was very appropriate to brag about how fast we can drive our cars, i mean i want to keep my licence so i can drive my torana when its finished and not get hassled (too much) by the cops and be a danger to other drivers around me, i can easily say that my 450HP engine + 2.75 diff could push my car to 250+km/h but ill never push it that fast, i have learned to be responsible with the toys i own, (although i might go pop some tyres here and there but not in public places) and i hope other "new drivers" will be responsible with thier cars too. Its not just your licence, its YOUR LIFE and THE LIVES OF EVERYONE ELSE OUT THERE TOO.

Not to mention that our performance modifications are getting strict enough as it is.

Drive Safely Everyone!

Regards Anthony.

Cruising on the road, I try to stay in the left hand lane as much as possible. Helps control the speed, and is heaps more relaxing, although will go round trucks/4WD's, don't like my vision being obscured. Earns the old girls heaps more respect than blasting down the middle lane.

I know what the car is capable of, and I don't need to prove it to some noob beside me.

I think tinkers motive here is no make us understand that the forum is a PUBLICALLY viewed forum and besides the fact that it can be viewed by the police, it projects itself out to the wider community an image of itself and that image is made up of the forums content and she doesn't want it filled with illegal street racing and burnouts for the impressionable kiddies to see, otherwise we'll be seen as irresponsible twits instead of genuine car enthusiasts. And it will create a bad image for Torana's and their drivers. Notice how Hot-Rods don't get so much flack? (Yet they roam around with supercharges and sidepipes and shit)

Not that this thread is bad, but watch what you say eh guys  ;)

For the most of your post yes.

I also know that there are at least 2 other forum members (probably more) that have the same career as myself

The most important part of this thread is in BOLD and larger font so everyone will hopefully take notice.

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that i've done 192km/h in a little 1.5l twin cam excel - all legal of course.

Gotta love the open roads in the Northern Territory with no speed limits :)

Also the NT doesn't have dermit points @ all, I feel for those guys interstate driving around on those "double dermit" point weekends :(

I reckon the excel could have topped out around 195 or a bit more. Shockies were stuffed so it was bouncing like a kangaroo !!!

cheers
peter.

i was bored, and i always look through the old threads for relevant stuff...

Yes there is a problem, you are way too young to wreck a good LJ, and get hurt or worse. Aside from that you don't want to end up with nothing from the neck down but memories and a battery powered chair.

I read it but I don't believe it........what did the old rig have in it......more like "who was in the old rig that slammed into the tree" being asked by the investigating officer.

Sorry, Sorry...

there was no retaliation when Heath said he did 143km/h... so why now?

It probably wasnt a very smart or safe thing to do, but I dont particularly care. I'm here now typing this, so i cant have gone too bad... and now that ive done it and seen that it can do it, i wont do it again!

like someone said earlier, we all try these things one day...

Aaight, iIprobably shouldnt of revived this thread by saying that i pulled 160km/h in my LJ... But I'm over it! people are always gunna be critical of what other people do, wether its speeding, killing the wrong animals (< this is just an example), or just stuffing up.

like someone said earlier, we all try these things one day...
