Howdy,

Read this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com....T...93:1|294:50

Guy feels the car was used as a police interceptor by the police.

Can anyone her confirm that the police did indeed use XU1's as interceptors? Where they unmarked?

I know VicPol never had any toranas except for fleet vehicles.

hardly a police interceptor

This car has been advertised on ebay numerous times.

Mainly as a Peter Brock tribute and as a GTR.

Now its a Police interceptor and according to the seller - the records do not indicate its a GTR hence it's now a Police interceptor.

Surely the seller knows what he/she is selling? (sounds like a 2 door LJ coupe)

Like they say, check before the cheque.

Mick.

The tie is short because it was normally worn under a pullover, driver.

Pretty sure the XU-1 interceptors were disguised as GTRs. They did still have the air dam fitted though, but no decals or bobtail.

The Police on Sydneys Northern Beaches had a silver XU-1 in 1974 with no disguise. When I was still at school it chased us around Killarney Heights one night after we were a bit naughty. I remember running for cover behind the high school thinking "gee those things go, gonna have one when I'm older".

There was a couple of those LJ GTR cop cars here in Newcastle...they were a washed out light brown ( non metalic ) colour.

Isn't it obvious?  They have more street cred. ;)
