Rims will be in my grubby hands tonight.

I cant stress how freaking awesome ROH wheels have been in the whole thing. Top company IMO.

And also, I was going to be buying a sheetmetal rocker cover, turns out my parents had Karlie hack into my email to get the details of the place I was ordering one from and they beat me to it.

I was a bit iffy on the engraving on the top to start with (thought it might be a bit tacky to have "happy 21st" scrawled under the bonnet) but I thought about it last night and decided I like it. Im never selling the car, so resale doesnt worry me (If I did it wouldnt include the rocker cover!) It should go on the car tonight or tomorrow night, so Ill throw up some pictures of the "self clearancing" that the roller rockers did to my current tappet cover.

Very Nice Chris!

Will you hit it with the polisher and make it mirror finish (Can't tell in the pics)

If you get over the engraving, nothing stopping you from using it as a display piece somewhere in the house!

Plus, it looks a shitload better than [---202---] HAHA!

It may or may not be tacky, but getting car parts for presents is very cool! :)

Ive got to get the tyres taken off the fronts and fit the new outers (which are occupying the spare room at home, with half the interior too!)

I might get a chance to get to the tyre shop on the weekend, but dog has the vet appointment etc.

It wont be driving for atleast a month, so Im in no rush :P

Im not sure on the boot.

Im going to have to change the carpet to match the new interior carpet at the least.

Im thinking of selling the 2 12 inch subs and going to a single 12 inch in a custom box with 2 amps on an amp rack on the other side.

When I get some motivation im going to measure and sketch it all, but at the moment its only in my head.

thats what i did with my interior , sat down and thought of a few things then hit the tools that weekend to see how things would come out , i was then busy for the next few weeks ;)

Thoughts sometimes cost alot money and time hehe , and we wouldnt have it any other way :spoton:

Alright, after stripping the bay of all compontents (bar the block) and stripping the whole front of the car (headlights, bar, grille etc) I stopped any work because we bought the ute.

Well a good mate of mine (and fellow torana enthusiast) is getting married in 3 weeks time (weekend after toranafest) and he originally had a whole line up of torries booked.

After 2 of his mates broke their cars over the last week, he asked if I could get mine going for the wedding (he has my old mans XU-1, uncles GTR and now my LJ)

I was originally thinking of throwing on a double barrel carby, just half assing things and leaving it at that for the wedding,

But in true work myself to death style, Im going all out.

Wedding is on the 26th this month.

Things that are going to get done-
Engine bay-
strip certain sections of the paintwork to bare metal
Hiding wiring, relays, alarm, fusebox etc
removing wiring clips
Welding up all the spare holes
Bit of bog work to smooth things out
Hi-fill
remove and repair heaterbox (modified for new rocker cover) paint it

Respray engine bay in body colour (still deciding on what colour to do the master cylinder, thinking orange too!)

Then intstall triple 40mm webers on warneford manifold (these will look a bit dodgy for now, planning a massive tidy up later on though, thinking a nice shiny plenum or something, just ram tubes for now though)

respraying/blending the black section of paint that got fried when I repaired the rust in the radiator support last year too.

Just throwing the old black carpet back in for the wedding (to keep costs down at the moment)

Leaving the jelly beans on for the wedding too, cant afford new tyres for the other wheels, and cant afford the gaurd rolling (or damage from gaurd rolling)

But Ive done a deal with my brother, trading my two pioneers and the coustic amp that powers them for a single 12inch kenwood and 4 channel cadence amp (run the speakers aswell as the sub)+ cash my way.

So going to have a new boot install (using the wall and perspex though)but it will be another "after the wedding" thing.

Grille is getting re-furbed at the moment too.

Im going to be VERY busy! engine will be out thursday night, car on the trailer friday night, wiring moved over the weekend, off to panel beaters early next week.

On top of that, Im rubbing the purple torry on saturday morning as its getting some colour blown over on the weekend too!

And I have some mid semester Uni exams next week!

Wil let you all know how it progresses!

I was unsure about the rocker cover at first Chris, but it has grown on me.
Plans sound good, you sure have your work cut out though!

Tell me about it!

I still need to sort out my engines breathing problem too (with the new rocker cover)

Thanks for the compliments though.

Need to move all the ute parts into the laundry/house (shhhhh dont tell karlie) so I can get the torana out of the shed and turned around.

Basic timeframe-
tuesday night- move all the ute bits, get the car in a workable position (then some uni work)
wednesday night- Uni 6-9.30, so a waste of a night
thursday night- engine out and on stand, exhaust off, booster/master off, heater box out
Friday night- moving the car to my parents shed, start on wiring
saturday- rubbing and prepping racecar for paint, painted that arvo
Sunday- hiding the wiring, removing all the wiring clips, brackets etc, welding holes grinding

Hopefully early next week I can have it at the panel beaters for some slight bog work ove the welds, and a slap of hi-fill

Then its back to parents shed till the weekend, rub the hi-fill on the weekend, painted early the week after and back together the next weekend (with webers :) )

Got some photos, will throw them up tonight while Im at uni.

I had to go with nights for this semester, work decided they were no longer going to pay for the days I had off for uni (instead they want to "contribute" to my fees....but wont contribute to my HECs as its non tax deductable, wont pay for my books and I have pretty much zero other costs.... so where does that leave me?), and with house payments to meet and food to buy, I couldnt really afford any half payed days so nights it is!

Shit thing is, I hate economics, and the only two subjects (im part time) that came up for the semester were finance (which I dont like, but excel at) and Macroeconomics. so a shitful semester all round!

Well the shed now looks like this-

Posted Image

and the laundry like this-

Posted Image

and me like this :D

engine bay looks like this-

Posted Image

Alright, well these are the two sides of the engine bay, and the nice (ugly) wiring that occupies them-

Posted Image

(this also shows half the reason for the engine bay respray, a fitting broke and put some fuel onto the paintwork, car sat with the drip for a while and it ate the paint, I went to wipe it off.... paint came with the cloth.. I gave it a touch up with pressure pack to get me through, but it has given me the shits since!
Posted Image

section of paint damaged when I welded in some new metal on the rear of the radiator support (rust repair)
Posted Image

Inside with no carpet-
Posted Image

interior is spotless still, just looks gloomy in the photo!

polished up some under bonnet chrome bits ready to go back on later-
Posted Image

trying to decide what to do here-
Posted Image

I gave it the bodgiest respray last time to just get it on the car, thinking of getting gaz to blast it... hmmmmm.

Im not too keen to pull it apart though, and I dont want the grit to get in and f*ck it.

so maybe I just wire brush and rub it, and a quick repaint in something glossy.

Engine is out, Looks like I may have to peel the sump off before it goes back in, looks like it may have spat the gasket in one section when the pressureising issue occured.

Going to tig on a few fittings and run a catch can this time around though, so shouldnt have too many issues!

Wiring is all going under the gaurds, horn will be flipped, going to a comodore accelerator pedal after we get the wedding over and done with.

some photos later on.
