shiny new stainless steel airdam.........
Like the one I bought from WYLDLC about 12 months ago?? lol.
I just need to fit a stone tray! haha, it might be on the cards, you never know! lol
Sounds good chris
But id recomend motor sport connections at seven hills over earls
Cheaper?? HPW sells russel fittings (any good?) and reckons he can match earls (or beat them) on price.
The only issue is, I want to run black fitings instead of the usual blue and red, and lots of places dont do black.

but if Russel fittings are ok, then I might just go through HPW if its cheaper for me!

Ive actually spent some time working on the orange thing! SHOCK HORROR!
Carbies are spotless, manifold was stripped, filed and re-painted.
New linkages are here too.
Just need to fix the acc. pedal and it should be all sweet.
Stay tuned!

Loving the colour-coded bay, that's an awesome improvement, it looks mint. The carbs look tough too.
It bought back memories seeing how your engine fan wrecked your radiator, my mate used to own a stonkin' tough little 202 powered LJ called MRGTR, he did that several times as well. Damn it makes a mess with coolant pissing everywhere.
PS. Cool footage of the glass blasting, how easy is that!
PPS. I want to hear dyno figures, hurry up

alrighty, time to catch up on some photos-

$400 worth of weber jets, emulsion tubes, chokes, etc etc from the UK, SHINY!

pretty new MSD lead set, Thinking of getting some lead seperators to make it look a bit nicer, but looks fine for now.
Now some progress
This is what my webers used to look like (more the one on the right, Id started to wipe over the one on the left)

and this is how they look now-

I also stripped and file finished some parts of the manifold-

its not had 5 coats of engine enamel, each one heated with the oxy for a proper cure

nothing like a yard of toranas hey!
Ive got more photos on my phone that I didnt get time to upload, so there is more to come!
The webers are back together, ready to go back on the car, linkages are setup etc.
I started cleaning up my thermo brackets too, was going to polish them, but decided black would be better in front of the radiator.
More photos on the weekend.
As soon as I get the carbies on and the pedal sorted, we will be off to see John (ultratune erina) to get it on the Dyno, just seems life is getting in the way at the moment.

Im having trouble sorting out rear springs at the moment though.
Ive got lovels for the front in SL, but they dont make SL rears, only "sports"
What have others used? I dont want to end up with a too low, or too high set of springs in the thing!

The GTR has lovells rears in it that are the perfect height, so im raiding those for the time being.
Should get onto the suspension on the weekend.
Tonight is accelerator pedal modification and some brackets + heaterbox hole plate.s

Fitted the new outers to the front wheels, old boy took them to have tyres fitted and balanced.
Only to find out that the inner rim on one wheel is VERY buckled.
took a shitload of weight to balance it up.
After all the $$ these wheels have cost me (2 new outers, 4 new tyres, need gaurds rolled, etc) on top of the purchase price (which was resonable, so cant complain about how much i paid originally), Im starting to regret buying them.
Looks like I'll have to get the inner re-rolled at some stage.
So at this stage I'll fit em up, see how it drives, but probably wont drive it to toranafest on them, will swap wheels when I get there.

Here you think you are doing it all right the first time (aka spending a lot of money for parts you expect to work) and they don't work!!
I think you should just get some convo's for the beast, drop in a V8 and you'll never lose the smile from your face!!!

I wish that was my yard in the photos, but unfortunately its my folks joint (although that shed will be in my backyard in 6 months)
As for matts convos and V8 idea..... well then my LJ would be an asshole.... the same as what everyone else has

(I may have to add a yard full of naked sweedish cheerleaders just to top you, not sure where to get them from, maybe Rare Spares?)
I think you can get them on SweeBay

Show me an LJ 4 Door with Convo's and a V8...

wheels are on, lowered rears are in, fronts arent low enough (rears could do to be lower too, but we had them so they will do)
Front springs are getting a little bit of modification....

Its looking pretty good, lower will make it perfect.
Plate for engine bay is getting folded up tomorrow, and bracket for catch can is getting rolled.
Pictures are on my phone, might get them up over the weekend

Lovells wernt low enough in the front, so they got pulled back out, standard springs were.... modified.... and it sits nice now (in the front)
Rears arent low enough though, needs another inch out of the back, that on the list for later in the week.
This also means that the new wheels are on

so far it looks pretty good, the reduction in the front has fixed the turning issue, rears look lik ethey shouldnt scrub too much for the minute.
Dyno is booked (FINALLY) for saturday morning (aslong as John isnt too busy, we are getting it done as a favour, so cant take him away from real work!)
Wiper motor was painted last week, plate is folded and ready to be painted, tappit cover has been drilled for an extra line to catch can, and baffle tigged in.
Catch can bracket has been rolled, needs to have the fuel reg bracket tigd to it now, then it can get polished up.
Then its off to the trimmers for a few days to have the carpet fixed up.

Carbies originally looked like this-

now they look like this-

I spent about 2 hours rubbing the radiator right back and giving it a fresh coat of satin black, came out great considering I had to blow dry the paint(painted it at night, in the cold) and it came out perfect!

Tidied up and painted the alloy thermo brackets-

wheels were stripped down-

Throttle linkage bracket I made up, tigged on the under side, still needs a final polish-

and on the firewall-

modified my rocker cover with an extra hole (was having breathing issues with only one hole at the rear)

Then made and welded (tig) in a baffle plate

So its ready to go on now (just in time too, the roller rockers are beginning to chomp the chrome cover again!)
Im pretty sure this is with the lowered rear springs in it-

needs another inch in the rear..
This is with the lowered front spring in

Still needed to be lower (side on was bad)
So grabbed the old springs out and. Well, I wont go into detail or the Nazis will get me but

sitting better in the front now-

and just because I had photos of it-

So thats everything basically up to date for now ☺

Nice job Chris, looking fantastic.
EDIT:I've found from experience that flat/satin/gloss black engine enamel works great for radiators. Lasts well and provides a good finish.

Thats exactly what I painted it with Craig! haha, VHT satin black engine enamel.
I originaly had it painted with a gloss style, but it had to go back to have the side bracket re-attached (they #@$^%& up the first time I had the radiator repaired, but I let it slide because Id just painted and installed it etc etc)
and when it came back it had a shitful paintjob, silicon all through it, half rubbed bits etc etc.
So I took it back to bare metal and started again. was well worth the effort.
The only thing I forgot to take photos of was my catch can, bracket, and fuel reg.

I just upgraded the daily brakes! lol.
being such a barge, the VT warps standard rotors with mild applications..
my brother works for Bursons and the DBA guy told him if he could warp these rotors hed give him a new set for free.
My brother is shockingly hard on his brakes, and has been running them for a few months, so I decided they were ok! lol.
so DBA rotors and some ultimate pads (full sweep ones too

Hoppers kit is on the wishlist for the torry though!
Ive got the wheels to clear it now!
